Ah I totally misread it. Thanks for clarifying. I guess that means my upcoming SQ coded domestic connections will count, but not the international legs.

I feel like I’m pretty switched on, but the VA rules and exceptions to the rules really do bamboozle me.

Wait...why not? I'm also well and truly bamboozled. Or are you referring only to DSCs (noting the thread we're in)?

I think we need a "How many status credits will I earn?" sticky.

Hi, does anyone know if the bonus status credits will contribute to the VA marketed/operated bucket for a qualifying flight?

E.g I fly MEL to SYD and receive 40 SCs which come out of the VA operated/marketed bucket… does the additional 40 Bonus SCs also come out of that bucket? Or would they just go in the “other” category?

I just read the change... The snippet from point hacks....

"In a welcome enhancement, Velocity has now confirmed that members will be able to qualify for or maintain Status through Status Credits earned on both Virgin Australia-marketed and/or operated flights they’ve personally flown.

This broader definition now encompasses Virgin Australia-operated flights booked through a partner airline. For example, let’s say you book Singapore to Hobart on the Singapore Airlines website. The codeshare sector SQ6444 from Sydney to Hobart, operated by Virgin Australia, will now be counted."

So if you depart AUS direct to say SIN, there's no difference to earning extras SC's.
Is this really the change?
Yes it'll throw a few little SCs to a few, but so little that's hardly worth revising imo.

Another mention was extra 5 SCs on a long haul J ticket, again, really!

If the base fare was a Virgin operated flight, any bonus applying to that will also go in the same Virgin operated bucket.

I almost considered flying from CBR to PHE or KTA for a long weekend starting tomorrow, to take advantage of the double SCs, and to get the current chill out of my bones… But, no. Earning at $6/SC still not appealing.

May as well just wait for a future DSC opportunity in my next status cycle and reconsider. Probably more changed rules by then as well.

I booked a flight while this promo is still going, only SYD-ADL return, but then afterwards realised I hadn't actually made the choice of points or SCs before I booked. So guess I get nothing extra. Couple of more booking to do so at least I'll get those.

Make the selection NOW, I did this last week with flights booked on day 1 of the deal, flew on day 3 and made my selection on day 4. all points for that booking (which hadn't been credited yet) were given the DSC

But they do NOT count for past flights toward Lifetime Gold ..... Beavis and Butthead must be writing all the wackadoodle rules in there. They have lost the plot - AND lost a lot of once loyal flyers, whilst they flounder around aimlessly, changing their mind with apparent randomness.

I chose double SCs for this promotion. Don't know why I chose double SCs as not getting past Gold by October and no hope of Platinum with the sort of spend required.

Had to cancel flights anyway so a waste all round.

My status + double status came through but none of the pooled double status came through for the family, just the standard status for them. I must have missed a trick on rego or it was not valid? Any ideas?

Logically yes

Because it’s their points / status that accrue first, and then only secondly does it flow to you.

So you need to double it at their end

You always have to activate for each Velocity account as they are all individual accounts/separate entities; you can't activate offers on other people's accounts (unless you have their login details).
Where points &/or status happen to be redirected to (pooled to) at the time the flights are taken, which can always be changed at any point up until a day (or 2 days for a swap from one recipient to another) before the flight is taken, is irrelevant.
Each person agrees to the offer (& gets to see the terms) on their own account.
Additionally, sometimes you'll see an offer such as... double status credits or double Velocity points? In this case, each Velocity member gets to choose what offer they want, and whichever one they select will be accrued by them (land on their account), then pooled (transferred) to you, if you happen to have pooling switched on when they take that flight.

Also, keep in mind, many of the double or triple status or points offers are now targeted, so only certain members will receive the offer.
You might personally receive an offer of double status credits, but those pooling to you won't be eligible for the offer, depending on how Virgin is targeting members.
Each member has to personally receive the invite to the promotion, which will be via email and app for each member and click, activate, if they have received said offer.
