Ah I totally misread it. Thanks for clarifying. I guess that means my upcoming SQ coded domestic connections will count, but not the international legs.

I feel like I’m pretty switched on, but the VA rules and exceptions to the rules really do bamboozle me.

Wait...why not? I'm also well and truly bamboozled. Or are you referring only to DSCs (noting the thread we're in)?

I think we need a "How many status credits will I earn?" sticky.

Hi, does anyone know if the bonus status credits will contribute to the VA marketed/operated bucket for a qualifying flight?

E.g I fly MEL to SYD and receive 40 SCs which come out of the VA operated/marketed bucket… does the additional 40 Bonus SCs also come out of that bucket? Or would they just go in the “other” category?

I just read the change... The snippet from point hacks....

"In a welcome enhancement, Velocity has now confirmed that members will be able to qualify for or maintain Status through Status Credits earned on both Virgin Australia-marketed and/or operated flights they’ve personally flown.

This broader definition now encompasses Virgin Australia-operated flights booked through a partner airline. For example, let’s say you book Singapore to Hobart on the Singapore Airlines website. The codeshare sector SQ6444 from Sydney to Hobart, operated by Virgin Australia, will now be counted."

So if you depart AUS direct to say SIN, there's no difference to earning extras SC's.
Is this really the change?
Yes it'll throw a few little SCs to a few, but so little that's hardly worth revising imo.

Another mention was extra 5 SCs on a long haul J ticket, again, really!

If the base fare was a Virgin operated flight, any bonus applying to that will also go in the same Virgin operated bucket.

I almost considered flying from CBR to PHE or KTA for a long weekend starting tomorrow, to take advantage of the double SCs, and to get the current chill out of my bones… But, no. Earning at $6/SC still not appealing.

May as well just wait for a future DSC opportunity in my next status cycle and reconsider. Probably more changed rules by then as well.

NB: I also noticed there wasn't a Thursday specials the day after launch and wonder if there will be this week ie: the day before entitlement closes.
