Nice one. The full forward schedule to choose from as well.

However, with the 30% off J awards and other previous bonus point promotions, my schedule for the rest of the calendar year is already pretty full.

Would prefer triple SCs at present. With the downgrade in SC earnings I'm going to struggle to retain Gold this year. I did book a few flights when the double SC offer was on but not enough. Still I guess points are points. As I read it any VA flight flown in VA metal qualifies but nothing else? That is, Air NZ flights with VA flight numbers?

This coincided nicely with our winter Melbourne trip, registered and booked today :)

Lord Lenny did you get good fares?

Wife and I looking going to Melbourne during June which includes applicable dates which offer says fares from $138. Best we can do going down is $287 unless we take the 7.55pm or 8.25pm flights. Coming home at a suitable time is $135.

Probably too slow in getting good fares going down.

can't see anything that suits even close to their advertised bargains....usual nonsense.

Am thinking of cancelling an existing BNE-LAX J booking to rebook using this deal. Good idea?
Fares are $800 lower than when originally booked, so that covers the $400 cancellation fee.

Sounds like fantastic idea. Better in your pocket.

Did you do mathematics at school, $400 dollar saving and x3 points, what do you think?

I have activated the offer but haven't booked yet. I need specific May dates CBR-SYD and none are on sale. Costing almost $800 return for 2 Adults and 1 child in economy is a lot to stomach for a 1hr flight.

When it's a 3 hour drive too. Fun story: I once dropped my boss off at CBR (he had only flown down for the day) and I drove back to Sydney. I got home before he did. He had the misfortune of a huge storm at SYD and having his plane struck by lightning.

Yes I know but I’m terrified of driving into Sydney and the airport
Might just have to use up some points which I didn’t want to do

Eh nothing spectacular, Elevate for both legs, from memory Getaway fares were sold out for the times we wanted (we're a lot more timing sensitive now that we don't live near the airport anymore) I average it out at $211 per person per leg. The SYD-MEL Friday night sector was more expensive than the MEL-SYD Sunday morning one obviously, maybe around $249pp which now that I think about it isn't too bad for 6.30 on a Friday night

Our domestic travel patterns are usually Friday Night - Sunday Morning so I never expect anything mildly affordable for the Friday nights, sometimes I'll just straight up Business Reward it (bit of a waste of points I know, but Lady Lenny doesn't mind :)) but this time I need the sectors.

Good news AFFers, rang up Virgin, through to excellent WP phone service, VA didn't charge cancellation fee as we rebooked there and then, resulting in same flights, same seats, with $800 credit into the travel bank and triple points earn.
Why did I even hesitate? (Cause I'm risk averse, always measuring twice or thrice).
So, there is a definite benefit to achieving WP in the quality of service that you get.

You have got to be happy with that result...

The WP team are pretty good at waiving fees and charges as long as you are not in the cheapest fare grouping.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Fantastic result!! I would definitely second the quality of WP phone service - I had a similar problem last year, flights changed, upgrades kept, no charge and I ended up with a wee bit in the travel bank to put towards a future trip.

Sadly I couldn't quite stretch the final 100 status credits to re-qualify this year

Booked the following today for travel during the next few months, These flights will not only tip me over to WP but build a nice little fund to send the wife to Europe in J with SQ later this year.

Booked a BNE/MEL/BNE on the last day and very happy with the piggy backed triple points and 12% discount on Freedom fare.
