Apologies as I don't follow this thread for obvious reasons that I don't fly business class.

Travelled OOL-SYD last night with my 7 year old daughter in row 6. There was a family of 4 adults sitting in business on the right and 2 single travellers in the window on the left. We got water as we ate in the lounge.

About 30 minutes into the flight with business dinner service complete I could see CSM coming down the aisle with passenger manifest in hand. He stopped in front of me and I thought he was going to say hello.

He said "John?" and leant over and asked me "We have leftover business class meals and do I want one? Yes what's available? Green chicken curry or Mac & cheese. It was an easy decision. It was actually ok. My daughter loved it as mac & cheese is her favourite right now.

Amazing! Was this the last flight of the evening?

Where the flight is an appropriate length, and maybe with ‘moderate’ pax loadings … they should try to make this a regular occurrence … it would assist with wastage, I presume, unless there is another process in place upon landing?
I can see it now.

"Last time I got a meal in Y. I'm a WP"
They barely can load 8 meals for a flight so it's a no from me. Too complicated.

Just a heads-up, at least one CM has stopped doing any pre-flight service… including pre-departure beverages.

I thought this might have been tied to the new menu offering, but gladly it’s not!

Other than PDBs, what does the pre-flight service consist of?

Good question, I guess hanging of coats? Preparing anything else for the inflight service?

Were there time constraints or did they just not do it?

No time constraints, flight arrived early, boarding commenced early at 35 mins prior to departure, boarding completed 15 mins early. No weather issues or delays onto Sydney.

Apparently the CM has been in trouble for closing the door late so writes it up in the flight report that they ‘don’t do anything’. Had plenty of time to chat though about upcoming time off etc.

I only include it in this thread because I thought it was potentially part of the new menu and maybe a revised service offering coming out with that. (But it turns out it isn’t.)

Now I want to know who the CM is 🤣

I keep coming back thinking it’s gonna be the new menu!!

CM a couple of weeks ago was saying ‘new menu next week’… which was last week. But this is this week and still the same! o_O
That Thai Chicken Curry has been on the menu all year ...
