HBA-MEL 11:00 am departure.

Orders taken 1ACDE then 2ACDE, no iPad used.

Two cold options, I chose ‘middle eastern salad’ . I noted @twinaisle ’s comment about re abbreviated ( or absent) hot drink policy on shorter flights like this and I guess the ‘cold meal only’ is a similar policy? That’s a shame but not a dealbreaker, if so. No lemon for the G&T could be though!

Nice meal and the bread was completely fresh 😊

Too short of a flight to serve hot meals as people burn their mouths trying to eat 🤣 by the time the seat belt sign is turned off and on again it's around at most up to 20 mins so it was becoming a throw out the tray and quickly try to clear it back in so that's why it's been changed to a cold option.

😊 My excuse is that I don’t think I have ever sat in a RH window seat on a B737 (always talking aisle) so I was unfamiliar with the real estate!
Well this Is bloody karma, isn’t it? 😳 🤣. Invol seat change from 2C on my subsequent flight to accommodate a lesser mobile pax

presented very nicely
An understatement, if I may.

Yea, same experience last week ex-ADL, no lime/lemon slices for G&T ...

Looks nice ... given this is a cold meal, I'm assuming that it is served as packed ... wondering if the FA would be able to serve this without the egg ...

MEL-BNE dep 1:30pm. another male crew up front - never as good as the females I think. CSM was OK.

Orders taken 2DF, 2AC, 1DF, 1AC but served in the reverse order.

PDB water, sparkling water or Prosecco.

Choice of Middle eastern salad or Thai Green Curry; I had the latter and it was delicious. I scraped the plate clean!

Yes, I had the curry yesterday ADL-MEL (late lunch at 14:30) and it was really nice. Generous serves of the cab sav with it (I don't often drink still white).

On the later MEL-CBR flight, two choices of salad (nothing hot). This seems to now be the standard for this route, which is a shame IMO. Certainly a downgrade from a couple of months ago, but not the end of the world.

It's been like that since post covid, sometimes gate gourmet may load the wrong meals but it's cold only. I do miss snatching back meal trays and hurrying up adults to finish their hot meals in 15 minutes though.

Too much struggle to get a service out, cleared in and work under pressure though. 🫥

Ham and cheese toastie or egg and cheese quesadilla. Opted for the toastie. Orders taken and served 1A-F, 2A-F (I was in 2A). Top up of my sparkling wine was offered (don't judge me; haven't been to Adelaide in ten months and don't have to drive 🫠) but declined.

This has all the creativity that a boarding school kitchen hand would bring...........

Marketing clue - I will actually fly the airline with the tastiest meals served with some flair and imagination.

The frequently mentioned Thai Green Chicken Curry or macaroni and cheese with truffle. Enjoyed the curry last time and had pasta for lunch, so curry it was. No basil leaves though.

Meal orders taken and served in the traditional 1A-F, 2A-F.

Sydney delays meant we had to do a holding pattern for a while, landing ten minutes behind schedule despite leaving five minutes early. The CM Julia (who was great) offered extra chocolate hearts to us after meal service!

VA970 | BNE-SYD | 1705 Departure

PB: Fully enforced

PDB: Sparkling wine, sparkling or still H2O, OJ

Orders taken 1DFAC, 2DFAC and served in same sequence.

Dinner options included the infamous gnocchi with a mushroom sauce or a chicken and sweet potato dish. Opted for the gnocchi and was satisfied - fluffy gnocchi and just enough sauce with good flavour. Washed down with a cab sauv, followed by a G&T to finish (sans lemon wedge).

Would have loved a sweet dessert in place of the cheese and crackers.
