New meal options look very decent especially the vegetarian option so give those a try 😉

Ooh might keep my Business Class upgrade bids for my Melbourne trip in August then. Was thinking of cancelling them since I'm now Gold, but then again, new menu + Business Class for half price (bought the $69 Choice fares)

despite being Platinum might be looking at the competitor next flight.
Compare the ratio of good:bad experiences on this thread versus the QF forum, and you might just be convinced that that would be a bad idea. I for one am more than happy to continue to reward VA for their excellent product and service standards (and value/price).

Yes absolutely! 6 flights in past 2 weeks VA Biz ADL-MEL, MEL-ADL, ADL-BNE, BNE-SYD, SYD-MEL,MEL-ADL excellent and good food esp vegan mushroom/pearl barley dinner which I had yesterday eve from SYD-MEL and again MEL-ADL Grant Burge sparkling poured from a large bottle AM/PM Booked a YPTA Award for nephew on VA through call centre sunday 20 mins hold then took 10 minutes until ticket issued - Tried to do a QF Biz Award with YNGP code - call centre couldnt see flights even though i could see them on AA.com and QF.com As I mad booking with agent on the phone I asked to add DOB and YNGP code Stil lnot showing Now on hold intermitenently for 1 hour, agent hung up but at least called me back, and still on hold Why does something which is so easy with Virgin Australia become a nightmare on Qantas? Me thinks Phillip Adams is speaking from the heart of we Australians

New breakfast items this morning. Egg with dukha on ciabatta, or citrus French toast with maple syrup.

I opted for the egg. It was okay not great. Ciabatta was too hard to cut with knife on the flimsy tray. The egg appears to be a chopped hard boiled egg reheated on the bread. Small amount of tomato in the egg that didn’t add any flavour.

Apologies for the photo duplication - not sure what happened?

I don't know, as someone who does eat eggs, that looks very unappetising.
Absolutely agree it doesn’t look great.
Interestingly when I was checking out the new menu the other day I can’t even recall that being on the list. Got a couple of flights next week so keen to try a few of them out because some of the options sound pretty good

A new lunch item:
Poached chicken and rice salad.
The alternative was the cheese and leek item variously described as a quiche/ pie / tart that has been posted many times here.
Also new on the tray was a heart shaped milk chocolate.
Salad wasn’t great unfortunately and had no real flavour. The vegetable medley of carrots, peas and corn don’t appeal to me much. 3 very small pieces of chicken.

Forgot to mention that the wine has also changed.
The Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay are now Bankrock Station. It comes in an eco bottle. banrock-station-eco-bottle-pinot-grigio-750ml_5075357
The CM asked me if it was okay and admitted that she was embarrassed by the bottle which was why she had been pouring it in the galley. However when I asked to see it she did bring the bottle out for viewing. The size and shape of the bottle also makes it difficult to fit into the fridge so she wanted to check that it was cold enough. As I was asked I provided my feedback that it certainly wasn't good and that I preferred the previous pinot grigio (and that wasn't great either).

Thanks for the updates zig. Unfortunately I've found the wine selection on Virgin to be the biggest disparity compared with the Qantas business class offering. Other than the wines I think there's not much between the two onboard products and while I know Virgin's prices are far more reasonable surely spending a little more per bottle wouldn't break the bank..

You don’t even have to spend more money as price doesn’t dictate quality. Some very good wines out there at very good prices

The words of Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas about a week ago... “We purchase the best Australian wine. But I’d more focus on the quality rather than the price,”

Looking forward to eating some of these, but if early indications are anything to go by, might be passing on the ciabatta. I’d rather have undercooked bread than a rock hard teeth-cracker. Just will eat the topping
