Flew J BNE/HTI yesterday in J. Love the new aircraft and seats. Wouldn't know about the J food - they didn't have any due to 'issues with the new catering company', however we were able to choose anything we wanted from the Y trolley. Service was good but could do with some refining.

Flew on the 1740 ex MEL OOL yesterday Cheese Plate for a 2 hour sector, not impressed any way I thought ok lets have a New Yorker from the Menu none loaded so had 2 Crown Largers as I did not want to drink the Cabin Dry and a cookie. I dont mind the Cheese Plate on a 1 hour sector but for 2 hours, thats just mean spirited considering its closer to dinner. The CS handled the lack of food situation with class, pity catering hasn't. I have another 8 J class sectors for work this year with DJ and 12 with QF (thanks to comp gold and double SC will make WP) Will be interested to see the difference as I am on the second QF depature from OOL next Sunday which is lunch.

The catering company that supplies Business class is Alpha, they had to shut down their kitchens due to detection of listeria bacteria in the facility. Alternative arrangements were put in place but has been hit and miss according to VA's own statements. Apparently all is returning to normal from tomorrow morning when Alpha re-commence operations.

Can anybody tell me if DJ738, Dep OOL 1355, Arr MEL 1715 a lunch or a snack service? I'm flying J next week.

Sounds about right...

I thought that VA was fixing the early evening departures to included dinner and not a cheese plate ?

I did MEL-OOL-MEL today. Had the pie on the way up and the green prawn on the way back, 6.5/10.

not sure. FA said she would lodge a complaint and she mentioned we may receive bonus points or something. I'll wait and see. I expect we won't hear anything for a while. She commented 'John Borgetti won't be happy about this'. :)

Yeah. If you don't hear anything after 21 days, it's worth lodging some feedback.
You'll probably get a $250 credit. I find the complaints department very proactive.

And if I were JB I would be very disappointed with the whole 737 J Experience and I'm surprised that he or any of the other execs have not acknowledged the service is lacking and FIX IT!
I wonder whether he likes that bitter crusty Brie ...

thanks for the tip. I'll follow it up if I don't hear anything. Have you switched to QF J?

That's not very comforting. I might pass up any meal offering on the flight home just to be safe! Does QF use Alpha too?

Have you switched to QF J?

No I currently live in northern NSW so CFS/BNK/OOL are the ports I use.
However next year I'm moving to Sydney and starting work with a large firm who I assume fly QANTAS. So might switch over then.
