I believe this has extended to all states now. The exception is that crew don't have to isolate in a hotel, they can remain at home to self isolate. Qantas is looking at the possibility for hotels for crew in their homeport as some companies won't allow employees to come to work who live with crew (or their kids to go to school)

With those sorts of government level restrictions on the business, it makes it almost untenable that the government does not offer significant financial support, really.

So what about overseas based freight crew for Kalitta/FedEx/UPS/QR/CX/SQ etc? Can they go airport -> hotel -> airport the next day?

Strategic in what sense, @amaroo?

The passengers will have to stay in Brisbane for 2 weeks. Why do you think passengers will not be able to leave the plane in WA as it transits from London. The states are sovereign and they are starting to strut their independence.

WA doesn't want them, it didn't want the cruise passengers over the past couple of weeks.... why would QLD be any different?

Negotiations will only start with the Feds when the starting position is a NO. QLD has said no, by imposing conditions on the crew, rather than saying no to the passengers. Smart call IMO.

Correct. They must only travel to and from their hotel, and isolate in their room until departure. This is causing problems for airlines everywhere as a lot of hotels have reduced or temporarily stopped room service, and they are trying to find hotels that do have room service so crew can eat whilst self isolating.

It was my understanding that it was agreed at the national cabinet that QLD would be the base for these flights to share the load with VIC and NSW given their significantly higher number of scheduled international flights.

National cabinet also agreed on things like schools and all other things only to see VIC and NSW panic and break ranks? QLD obviously feels it's their time to strike like a viper.

This! Stock levels in the supermarket seems to be a bit better now, plenty of TP, pasta and flour on the shelves.
Life’s a beach. Supermarket today, there it was. Marked down mince.:D

Sort of. The repat flights were coming to MEL and BNE to take some of the pressure off SYD.

Cheers skip

Australian embassy sleeping in Vn,
Apparently US and UK ambassies in vn asking their citizen in vn to book for flights back to their countries and give out a list of airlines still have flights from vn to their countries. They may know something going on.

But the Aust don't do anything outside the HK rescue flights, and not prodding - many are worried they may get stuck at HK. As these are rescue flights - one way empty, possibly double crewed, it makes no sense to restrict to four or so locations.
