SG matched SWMBO received 50,000 points and 100 SC's offer.

I received 50,000 points and 200 SC's offer as a matched WP.

* 50,000 bonus Velocity Points and Status Credits offer is provided to new Virgin Flyer and Virgin High Flyer Credit Card account holders only who apply through the landing page prior to 31 Dec 2011 and spend $7500 or more on retail purchases within 3 months of account approval (excludes refunds, Cash Advances, Balance Transfers and special promotions)

seems the 7500 does specify retail purchase, excuse my ignorance but i want to clarify does this exclude bills/fines/rent?

So... hypothetically one could apply for the card...along with 3 other family members.

Status credit pool the 200 to one main account and - BAM - Platinum requalified ... once a few DJ flights have been completed.

Free Plat + 200,000 points for $99 * 4 + a few flights.

I wouldn't be happy as an existing cardholder right about now...

You could, but you'd also need to push a total of $30,000 in spending through those four cards within three months. And only two people in your family pool can be eighteen or over - so you'd need to somehow get the credit card issued to two minors. These barriers probably aren't insurmountable to creative people but you'd need to do a bit of work to pull it off!

It seems that "retail purchase" is there to specify that the bonus can't be earned simply by performing a cash advance etc, but by amounts legitimately charged to the card. :)

Can someone who's more familiar with the Velocity program tell me how much 50,000 Velocity pts is worth?
If I apply for the red card, I will get 50K pts + 200SCs, and then "1 Velocity Point per $1 spent up to $1,500 per month and then 1 Velocity Point for every $2 spent". so assuming I spend excatly $7500 over 3 months to qualify for the bonus, I will get an additional 6000 velocity pts for the $99 annual fee; If I get the black card, I will get the same sign up bonus but "1.25 Velocity Points per $1 spent" so 9375 pts for the necessary $7500 spend and an annual fee of $249. Is an extra 3375 Velocity pts worth $150? I suspect not but would be interested in your opinion...

If you guys think the offer is very good, I can get my + 1 to sign up as well, meaning with pooling, I could get 100,000 DJ points, and 400SCs for 2x$99 = $198. Is this a great offer or not??

Depends on what your needs are but given a J flight can be booked for 6900 points + $50 or so BNE-SYD with DJ until the price goes up in Jan, or to PER ex SYD for 6900 + $200 max!

I assume I can pay my (largish) tax bill with it then...;)

...so you are saying Mark that 100K DJ points is worth a fair bit then:idea::)...much more than $198 in 2 annual fees!! Edit: just found this thread below suggesting with selected routes with points and pay, 1 Velocity pt could be worth anything from 0.7c to 17c:shock::D

I aint feelin' the love!
I never received the email but thanks to oz_mark posting the link I applied anyway.

Just got a phone call from Virgin Money saying I am provisionally approved - strange - was knocked back by Virgin / Citi 12 months ago for a Virgin Money card - wonder if new Plat status match or 100k on deposit with Citi has anything to do with this sudden change in love from Virgin?

Have to say that it is fantastic offer. My better half (Gold) also got the offer. However we just could not spend $7500 on credit card in first 3 months. I just could not see it happening in our household.

I assume you applied using the platinum link rather than the gold link?

It will interesting to see whether you receive the status credits given you didn't receive the e-mail and don't have the requisite status.

Yes sure did - but I am Plat anyway thanks to recent SM.

I see! You might want to update your profile which states you are VFF Red, QFF Bronze and KF Blue!
Yeah I prolly should - however those status levels is where I should Be in terms of paid / earnt.

MP diamond courtesy Cent and then VP due to status match - but they aren't real levels so prolly won't change it - who knows I might be back to pauper levels next year and then I gotta change it again.

I'm Silver and got the offer for 50000 + 50 SC's but I'll qualify for Gold after a couple of flights today. Wondering if it's worth my while to hold off and see if I can convince them to make me the Gold offer for the extra 50 SC's.
