logo's........would it actually bring any new pax onboard??

Ah the world of marketing, so useless to so many, yet so influential. I don't know, I hope it's more than a few different paint swipes.

Did he ever tip some real coin in? Or did he just squeeze the lemon for ‘Virgin’ licensing fees?
He owned part of VA1. He still owns a small part of VA2, along with the Qld Gov and majority shareholder Bain.

Qld Gov has a slightly less than 2% stake in VA 2.0. Influence would be minimal from them.
Branson's stake in VA 2.0 is 5%, so my guess is he's trying to maximise the fees from his minority stake.

Saying that, it brings up the CAPEX question, spending $$ on a long-drawn one-off repaint across the whole VA 2.0 fleet which may take 2-3 years at most, or the (posted elsewhere) alleged $10million per year (plus one-off Application Fees and Related Computer Upgrades/Branding Changes) for *A membership, on top of millions per year licensing fees to RB for the Virgin branding.

I have no knowledge of the funding of VA1 etc; Branson may have put some seed money in, but equally he may have just taken equity in lieu of brand licensing, promotion, his wearing silly outfits (AKA goodwill) etc etc :)

They've just inverted the colours - not exactly ground breaking.

Was this it, or was there more and they forgot to cancel the logo changes? Very underwhelming.

They didn't just invert the colours - they also changed the shape slightly and gave it rounded edges. 😂

Their old logo as per facebook:

Seems pretty identical to me.

Edit - Oh I just saw the facebook post that explains the changes. Wow. Talk about subtle! I couldn't spot them side by side when I was expecting changes, let alone the average public not looking for them.

Here's the Facebook post in question revealing the 'new' logo

Link to VA video post on the new logo.

In other words, very underwhelming reveal (even with a plane or a mock-up in the potential new livery) had the hanger event gone ahead.

Pretty identical?

It's either identical or not.

Not sure there's such a thing as pretty identical. Apologies for being cough.

Gotta be more to it, but i remember the A-League made a change to their official logo some years ago which on solid reports cost closer to half a mil.
Not a single supporter i know noticed any difference (or who'd care), it was so marginal, ridiculous.

You're thinking of unique. Identical doesn't have to be 100%.

So, an inversion of the colours and a move of 'Australia' from under to the right of the logo (only in some circumstances). New era I guess...

It's the true Virgin logo now. Actually the changes are quite big. The tail of each plane will look very different and you'd have to be blind not to notice it in this context.
When Qantas rounded the edges of the roo there was so much fanfare lol.

Yes, white plane and red tail. Where have I seen that before?
