Yep it is Canobolas Smith Cabernets. Cooler Orange climate. Lower alcohol, slightly higher acidity making it quite refreshing and nice red fruit in the middle. Very easy to drink. Bought it from VM about a month and a half ago.

I'm thinking about also getting the 2014 Reschke RSR on Vinomofo. Never had a Reschke before.
Reschke story is a bit complicated but in a nutshell at some point CW wines got their hands on it and it is not clear who is actually a winemaker.
Previously RSR was an exclusive label for the Reschke wine club members and the last stocks were cleared for as low as $21 on their website for 2008 vintage. RRP on the original website was $36. CW jacked it up to $75. I had 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013. I could not really taste much difference between 2010, 2012 and 2013. They all tasted the same to me, tasted quite young and the corks were like as if they were bottled less than a year ago. All that said I quite enjoyed it. It is certainly fuller bodied than your average Coonawarra CS maybe not as structured/finessed but certainly packing a punch. I suspect 2014 to be in the similar vein.

Recently we blind tasted Reschke RSR 2013 vs Leeuwin Estate Art Series CS 2016 (as in Coonawarra vs MR) and to my surprise majority at our dinner party found Reschke to be more impressive.

I just don't like this blatant RRP manipulation but I would recommend the wine. I might put it in a blind taste vs Wynns BL CS next.

I found the bull trader to be better than both the vitulus and the RSR.

As above, we're all a bit sus on the age of these wines.

It looks like pre-CW, the Reschke winemaker was Peter Douglas (ex Wynns chief winemaker). If this site is correct: Reschke Wines, then the following are his wines:

Bos CS: 2007-2009
Coonawarra CS: 2010-2012
Empyrean CS: 2004, 6 & 8
Rufus CS: 2010-2011
Vitulus CS: 2011, 12, 16
Bull Trader CS: 2006, 8, 9
Bull Trader Shiraz: 2008-2010

It gets muddy after that, until CW took over and apparently Ben Wurst is the winemaker for Reschke now:
"All the current Reschke wines are made by senior winemaker Ben Wurst, who has decades of experience in the Coonawarra region"

Ben's history (as of 2011):
Studied Oenology at the University of Adelaide graduating in 1998. Completed a vintage in McLaren Vale in that year at Andrew Garretts. Moved to Port Macquarie to work as winemaker for Cassegrain Wines from 1999 to mid 2001. Henceforth moved overseas, lost a year in London, before doing a vintage at DuToitskloof Wines, Breede River Valley in South Africa in 2003. In the same year completed vintage throughout the Languedoc region on behalf of Jacques Lurton. In 2004 completed vintage at Islander Estate Vineyards on Kangaroo Island. Commenced employment as winemaker in Coonawarra at Katnook Estate from late 2004 to September 2011, before taking up employment at Great Stone Wines.

I also found references of him becoming the winemaker of Terramore since 2011
 
Powell and son Riverside is discounted. A few positive mentions in this thread

It's a researchy kinda day...
Apparently Powell and Son was a joint venture of Winemaker David Powell and his son Callum (launched in 2016). David Powell created Torbreck in '94, but left in 2013 after a dispute with his business partner. It seems now that Callum has moved on and David has renamed the winery from Powell and Son to Neldner Road, so the Powell and Son wines are being cleared as they're old label.

Pretty good pedigree if he was behind Torbrek!

Also RRP for the '18 on their site is $50, not the $30 that VM have listed

Some further Reschke detective work. I've pulled up photos of the Reschke wines I have in storage and looked at the addresses on them. If I'm correct, any with Stepney addresses were at least labelled (maybe also bottled) by CW. Anything with Rocky Castle Road were original Reschke. NFI about the Glenroy address, I'm assuming that's CW though:

Bull Trader Shiraz 2012: CW Wines (4 Nelson St Stepney)
Bull Trader Shiraz 2013: ??? (63 Magarey Lane Glenroy), can only find references to TOPFIELD FARMS PTY LTD
Coonawarra CS 2010: Original Reschke (Rocky Castle Rd, Coonawarra)
Bos 2009: Original Reschke (Rocky Castle Rd, Coonawarra)
Rufus CS 2011: Original Reschke (Rocky Castle Rd, Coonawarra)

Yep, sorry about that. I've found references to it as: "The Powells' entry-level red is the Riverside Grenache Mataro Shiraz, a 70/20/10 blend". Lots of references from .com sites, so likely was primarily an export wine?

Just saw that too. I had their 2016 a week ago and that was still young and not developing as expected, so wasn't sure about the '19

Wine can be held in bulk stainless steel tanks under nitrogen for several years before bottling. I'm not sure of the maximum safe time, but it could be that Reschke in a financial bind and not moving older stock chose to keep their tanks full prior to eventual sale. With tanks full they may have sold their grapes rather than produce more wine off their own vineyards for one or more vintages prior to sale.

Lack of colour on the internal end of the cork could also be due to the bottles being stood up after bottling rather than on their side, you can stack cases higher that way.
The final product can also have an undeclared small percentage (not sure exact allowance) of younger wine added to the final blend to "freshen" it up.
