I am currently in the United States of America and have need to take a domestic flight within the USA. I would prefer to fly on AA due to the OW alliance. I have just tried placing a dummy booking at AA.com and at no point before the payment screen does it show what the booking code for my flights would be. Knowing the booking code is very important to me as I want to credit the flights to QFF and I know that not all booking codes would earn point and status on QFF. Is it possible to view the booking code of an AA flight before paying and confirming the flight?

On a related note does Main Cabin Extra count as different booking codes or is it just a better seat?

Also do the great AA status run still exist? The threads on them are a few years old now.

You need to click "details":

A pop up appears - I've highlighted the booking class information:

Ah I've actually been using google flights to find some complicated connections. So it bypasses the flight selection screen on the AA.com side (as that was done on google flights side). I will see if I can replicate the same itinerary on AA.com directly

I just tried to make a 'First' Multi-city booking on AA.com and the 'details' is not there. I can see Fare Basis info at the end, but can't make sense. Anyone know how to read this?

The 'K' and 'Y' are economy class fare buckets, which seems to indicate instant upgrade fares. Sells as coach, books into the F (now business) cabin. I haven't seen the 'S' bucket before. But prolly the same thing.

You'll earn QF SCs as per business class, provided you fly business class (in the event of IRROPS you have a choice to either fly on the new flight in coach, or wait for a later flight with a first cabin. But that could be hours away. If you take an earlier coach flight, you can ask QF for original routing credit)

OK, it can be done - but you need to be nearly through the whole process AND be logged into an AAdvantage account.

On the "View and Pay" screen (after entering name etc.) there's an option to "Show Advantage Earnings for this trip". Select that and an overlay appears; on the left hand side, each segment is listed with its booking fare bucket: (I have highlighted the letters)
