Vietnam Airlines Business Class

I have recently done SYD to SGN (via Jakarta and BKK) on Garuda. I found the J fare on VN using a QF flight number was as much as A$1200 more expensive than booking J directly with VN and flying on a VN flight number. The points and credits were not worth the extra cost. My next flight to SGN is on QF via BKK and VN to and from SGN. The Air Asia sounds like a good deal at that price but it is LCC business class. I will be interested to hear a report as I have several more trips to SGN planned.

I'm happy with the low cost carrier for this trip. Not fussed about the food or entertainment. As the main leg from MEL to KUL will be overnight my main aim will be to sleep and so the flat bed is the focus :) Not sure if I'd be happy with AirAsia for long haul as then the food and entertainment would be a priority as well. I'm glad there was an error with the VN booking as I've saved almost $2,000.
I'll try to remember to give an update after the flight. Not going until July.

SYD-SGN is still (currently) showing as a 777-200 - angled seats (more like generous recline rather than flat angled). Same on the A330.

has anyone flown these lately? I can't find VN seat maps on seatguru and seatmaestro doesn't say if angled/flat/recliner. Seatexpert says slanted flat for the 777, and doesn't show A330

there are plenty of pictures via Google. Not sure if there are seat maps for the 777/330 anywhere... can't say I've seen them. They are all semi-flat angled the pictures will give you an idea.

Seat maps for the 787/350 are on line in various blogs.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone has sampled the VN 787/350 J product yet?

Some cheap SIN-LHR J fares are currently available when I need to fly and I could be tempted to give them a go.

Friends flew with them last year - 787 to London and A350 back from paris. The seats are not ground breaking in design - same same as any other carrier flying the same herringbone/staggered type of seats. The report back was that the seats were perfectly fine.
