Very short Cathay Pacific Transit at Hong Kong airport

I have a flight booking via Cathay travelling from MAD to MEL transit via Hong Kong , with a 50 mins layover. Am i crazy or is this something doable for a home hub ?

The other thing to remember is that as you are departing from the EU, EU261 applies.

Yes, if you’re at the physical airport the screens are as good as it gets. But if you’re inbound on a plane, getting realtime info is harder.

The website seems to lag the onsite displays.

6 hours you would wait at the airport in the lounge

If 6 hours, I would suggest you can catch an Uber to Tuen Mun Town Plaza (which is only 15 minutes away) and enjoy material freedom, such as Don Don Donki, Aeon, CitiStore for awesome Hong Kong and Japanese snacks.

If 6 hours, I would suggest you can catch an Uber to Tuen Mun Town Plaza (which is only 15 minutes away) and enjoy material freedom, such as Don Don Donki, Aeon, CitiStore for awesome Hong Kong and Japanese snacks.

But does a transit fare include the cost of leaving the airport and re-entering? Beware your onward ticket not being valid if you do this… it may have been some years but I’ve heard of that happening

Cost of customs, immigration - twice… not something a transit would have included in the price. I was planning a transit via HKG just a couple of years ago and figured why not pop in for 2 nights, the fare went up AU$100 but worth it for sure. My other example is someone who should have known better leaving HKG airport to the city to sleep between flights… got back and was told her onward ticket was now invalid. As flight crew for a partner airline they soon gave her a free onward segment, but well she should have known better

It’s fine, in fact the government will refund taxes in two tickets if you are in transit (even though you’re not technically supposed to ‘enter’ Hong Kong).

i have been entering HKG on through (transit only) tickets since at least 2007 and it’s never been an issue, or even mentioned.

Thailand used to catch pax entering the country during transit but not having paid the departure tax.
