Looks like there has been an upgrade to the website. Also suddenly a lot of missing points suddenly got credited too.

I have been doing a lot of online shopping lately and they are slow with those, plus restaurant bookings.
Missing flight booking has been accredited.

I don't mind a new layout however the website needs to function better (not stall or freeze me out when trying to book simple itinerary tickets with points).

It's like the only got a quarter of the way through a redesign and pushed it live. The proportions/visual hierarchy is awful.

Totally agree, it's such a rookie job.

In just this screenshot alone there are a raft of basic mistakes.
- Points / SC's don't align, unless you have 10Mil+ points..
- Useless space under 'log out'
- Edges on boxes don't match, square and rounded right next to each other
- Width of boxes / panel doesn't match either
- Pretty sure it's 'Status Credits' as opposed to 'Status Credit' and also should have a : for consistency
- All words are capitalised besides 'balance'

^ I'll admit, I'm a little OCD, but shouldn't that be a quality you look for in a web designer?

Thanks, now all the little things like the cap letters and 'Status Credit' - we can't un-notice that now and will annoy us just as much.

When I first saw it I did a CTRL+F5 thinking it was loading wrong. Nope

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Haha, should've kept it to myself ;) I had a similar thought and disabled Ublock then did a force refresh..

Re: Velocity Website "Upgrade"

What's that phrase? "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.".

However, in this case the lipstick is also smeared up the side of its face.

I see no new functionality on the site - I think it's just more of a 'visual refresh' (superficial).

I'm getting the same thing

Very unprofessional website. It's 2015 and they still don't have a mobile view and/or responsive design.

Re: Velocity Website "Upgrade"

Cut them a break guys, at least they are doing something.

I'm not so sure they deserve a break. I work in app/web development myself, and if I let one of my team (or if I myself) ever placed something live in the state this website is in (especially with the insecure configuration), I'd probably be fired. And that's for websites which are minuscule compared to Virgin Australia.

The fact that they've applied a 'visual refresh' also drives my crazy - there was never a problem with how the website looked (although could have been made mobile-compatible) - it's the functionality that's broken. Show's how they've got their priorities wrong IMHO.

Look, honestly it's great to see something happening, and I know what it's like to launch something new and have everyone only complain about it.

That said, I do hope it's just temporary while they roll out something better. The changes to date make no sense – nothing has been improved yet. Responsive (or at least a mobile version) is the bare minimum at this point.

Looking forward to a complete overhaul. Brand consistency between the two sites, single sign-on, a good-looking, easy to use VA bookings/VFF combined dashboard. Can't wait!

On a positive note - I would like to mention that I was very impressed with the new online check-in website launched earlier in the year. More work like this please Virgin Australia! It works nicely across all devices I've used it on too (desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile).

Yes, completely agree! They did an absolutely brilliant job of designing that (I can't speak to the consistency of execution as I don't use it often).

If they can take some of the lessons (and design paradigms) learnt here, they'd have a great site.
