Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Is anyone else finding on the homepage when entering origin, you start typing, then click on the name in the list that appears, but it just clears the text box and you start all over again?

Yes, that happens a lot...very annoying!

Yep. Click on the little box on the right side of the origin box to select the city instead.

Are you guys using Safari on Mac at all? I've found Safari doing this a lot on all sites (not just VA's). Same with drop down boxes, seems to be a strange bug if you select something and move the mouse away too quickly for that.

Not defending the VA site, just curious (the lack of SSO from Velocity to Virgin is shocking, and the lack of ability to change seats? It's enough to drive me mad).

Nope. I think I'm normally using Chrome when it happens. It doesn't happen all the time but there is some combination of events which causes it.

I get the same on IE. Agree, it's annoying, especially when I'm in a hurry.

I was just looking up flights on Virgin website. The landing page flight search defaulted to the last flight that I was searching which was SYD-MEL. I tried to change it to search one way MEL-SYD, and it resulted in this problem. I had to use the little search box on the right to get it to stick. Currently using PC IE.

I've just done some experimenting, and using Chrome, I'm finding that what you describe happens when the list is still showing more than one item for selection. E.g. if you type "E", then you'll get Emerald, Esperance... if I click Emerald, the box goes blank. If I type "Em", then I only get Emerald and I can then either click on the item and it sticks, or I can press Tab and it populates the field with that value.

I normally don't experience what you describe as I normally type in the three letter code for the airport (e.g. OOL) and then press tab... it pretty much guarantees a unique selection. "Click the name...". Why would you want to use the mouse when your finger's near the Tab key already??? ;)

Just type as much as you need to make the value unique, and then press Tab.

I agree rubbish.

Spent hours yesterday afternoon trying to do a multi city, mixture of domestic and INTL. had to do indidual bookings for each sector. In the result, even the very helpful helpdesk admitted defeat and suggested a TA! Not sure if QF would have been better.

And how much in credit card surcharges, oh sorry ahem, 'booking and service fees', did you have to pay booking individual sectors?

Ha ha.

"They" won; I didn't book anything in the end....one of my meetings suddenly became unconfirmed; so, who really won?

Sounds like it's not relevant, but just to add another data point, I'm on chrome on a mac seeing the clunkiness selecting cities...

Yep - you have to wait for the page to completely load for it to work properly.

OMG...I just did a search on the reward search on the VA site. It takes you to the results page which has the Velocity logo at the top left and the VA logo at the top right.

https://fly.virginaustralia.com/SSW2010/VAVB/webqtrip.html?execution=e3s1

The link behind the Velocity logo is: https://vais-cert.virginaustralia.internal/

The link behind the VA logo is just: iskecmwebtst01/

Of course both of these lead to Oops!

This is SO amateur!

Those links were previously working correctly (i.e. pointing to the public facing web sites) - I'm guessing they managed to break it with some recent 'unknown' update/patch.

I just made a booking starting from the main website without being logged in. Then I reached the point where I had to log in and it worked okay but then it still asked me for my address details and mobile number. Why doesn't it have that info stored with my profile? Why on earth do they even need my address anyway? They are not going to post out my tickets!

At least I didn't have to log in multiple times.
I also spotted that car hire comes at the end after the booking is made - an option to the right of the screen. The deals weren't any better than I got without them so I didn't use it.

Improving... but .... slowly....

Haven't booked a VA flight in a while until recently, so blissfully unaware as to how bad the website(s) are.

1. Log into my Velocity account.
2. Select "My Bookings" which redirects me to another page - where I have to resupply my Velocity number and password (or booking ref and surname).
3. Try to select seats (on a booking made this week) - not possible. Have to call up.

How can something so simple be so difficult? This issue (along with a few others) is making me question whether I'll bother maintaining SG on both VA and QF - perhaps I'll just go for WP on QF.

My bolding...Yes Yes Yes! Honestly, why do I have to re-login every time just to see my bookings? Any other airline website, I log in once... go to 'manage my booking' and bam I see what I've got!

I was just on the phone to the VA Plat Desk and the CSA shared that there is an email going out tomorrow to all Velocity members advising them that their accounts will be locked between 10pm Saturday 1st June and ~4am Sunday 2nd June, whilst they undergo a large Velocity software upgrade - she believes that this may fix some of the bugs/issues we are having. Also, she advised that Virgin is having a lot of trouble with Hotmail/Gmail/Yahoo accounts, so check your Spam folders for the email.

So when you're all having your Sunday morning latte, fire up your Velocity account and see if it works. I have my fingers crossed. I will cross post this to other (similar) threads to spread the word.

I think you will be having a very late latte LW, as the Velocity site states 10.30 PM Sunday

Yes, the information I was given yesterday (from an email to the Plat CSA's in BNE CC) seems to have been stretched quite a long way - 4.30am Sunsay IS NOT 10.30pm Sunday. They must really want to do some testing before letting it go live :D

I said "you're all having a Sunday morning latte" specifically - as I don't drink coffee .
