Seperate PNRs and I am gold wife is red.

However that's the least of my worries as my flight was just pushed back to 2100 ETD...

Originaly booked on 1900 flight, that was canceled so moved to the 2000 flight...now looking like 2100. And there isn't many other options after that!

Yeah that's hard to coordinate seating that way. I had lounge angels helping me a couple of times with similar situations. Both times I had to shift back to a double seat which basically could be seen by my sister, once to row 5 and another to row 20. Ah well, them's the breaks, but it could probably easily happen for better as well.

Ow....that's gotta hurt.

Just got to BNE lounge and no dice. Flight is complety full so will be separated but only for 2hrs.

As long as we get home were happy :)

I can't believe they still haven't fixed these gawd-awful websites. The number of times you have to enter data it already has makes me crazy. I don't know how many times I've changed the default phone number from the landline to the mobile but it still comes back.

I also cancelled a flight online for the first time and rebooked a cheaper fare thanks to happy hour. However I couldn't finalise the booking as my cancelled booking was still showing as existing even though it had already been cancelled. Had to call and get customer service to delete the booking.

Seems at least a sizable amount can use it alright so no incentive to fix. Besides, the direct competition isn't doing much better.

I think that's at the heart of it. We have no choice so we're stuck with mediocrity. As usual.

So has anyone ever attempted to use points to book a hotel on the website?? (Apologies if a similar experience is buried in the preceding 56 pages of woe...Here goes)

1: Navigate to virginaustralia.com.au
2: Click Book hotels
3: Get redirected to Agoda.com
4: Remember that the VA site is rather "special"
5: Enter Velocity number at top of the screen. Try again. Land on agoda again
6: Swear
7: Try to work out how to get to the velocity website, because you know, in the customer's mind it should be obvious that the loyalty scheme is totally separate from the airline
8: Look up and enter velocity number (again)
9: Manage to find where to search for hotels. Not Agoda this time. Score.
8: Search Asia-->Hong Kong-->Kowloon. (because it's a one night stop over, I want to stay on that side, close to a friend's place in Mong kok).
9: No Kowloon hotels exist. Sorry.
10: Search on "Hong Kong Island". Properties on both sides of the harbour come up.
11: Scroll down, see a possible hotel, try to look at room pics. Pixelated and useless.
12: Hit back button. Spinning ball of death. "Your session has timed out"
13: Search on Hong Kong Island again.
14: Pick another possible hotel to look at. Open a new tab and look at photos on the hotel's own website so as not to crash the virgin....ooops...velocity site
15: Like the hotel I'm looking at. Click through to try to book, but hang on, nowhere does it show price in points.
16: Open FAQs in new tab. It says I need to click a pay in points box on the payment page. Fair enough I guess.
17: Prompted. To. Enter. Velocity. Number. Again. (even though top of page says my name...)
18: Swear. Stomp. Give up.

How hard can it possibly be from an IT pov to have a single sign in that sticks? Not to mention all the other bugs. Maybe I'm just more familiar with how things work on the QF website and the sequence over there, but sorry VA, status match offers and all via my employer, but you just haven't managed to shake your LCC roots.

Don't even get me started on the lottery of whether I need to reach for my wallet if I want something to eat on a flight....

It is interesting you notice you cannot see how many points. My biggest annoyance with this process. I even did a dummy booking up to the payment page and still did not show how many points it would redeem. After signing in 3 times it was all too hard

Today I notice that my 2 flights to LAX (SYD>BRI>LAX) is now 3 flights, according to the website, im now flying SYD>BRI>LAX>BRIS>LAX. On the same day/flight number and I can select different seats for both BRI>LAX sectors.

On the way home, its now LAX>SYD>LAX>SYD. Same day and again, I can select different seats, meaning I can see on one screen our 5A & 5C seat booking and I click next sector and I can book 2 more seats elsewhere while 5A & 5C are blanked out/already allocated.

And hubby wonders why I keep checking status/seat assignments so much.

I don't think that's a web site issue - it more the way some CSAs handle SABRE.

I have two one-way MEL/LAX booking rerouted through BNE and one now reads as LAX-MEL,LAX-BNE-MEL-BNE-MEL, the other MEL-BNE-LAX.

The latter appears to have been cleaned up properly after the change, the former was not.

Personally I continue to wonder what is so confusing about the link to velocity frequent fly on the virgin webpage. Why wouldn't that be the first thing you click if wanting to use velocity points?

I lost seat assignments twice on a recent trip. Had picked out two seats well in advance went to look at how full the cabin was closer to the date and noticed i didn't have any seats. At this time there were no window/isle pairs left so had to move into the centre. Went to check in to the flight and noticed that again i had no seat selection. Luckily got the last two seats together on the plane. Was not happy.

Correct. Business Saver now appears to be extinct, probably a good move to display business fares as well as flexi and saver lites etc but at those prices I can't see them being rushed off their feet with J class passengers. Y fares look to be normal.

Hopefully this means that all business fares get chauffeur service. This would be a huge differentiator from qantas who just axed the service on routes to LAX.

You can use an App such as My Flights to monitor your bookings in these instances: it notifies you if there are any changes to your booking, such as seat assignment. Very useful for finding out when things change.

wishful thinking.. Tho at least you can still get it !

From the website ...

Eligible Virgin Australia international long haul Business tickets are tickets booked in adult Business fare classes (J or C class) only. Guests with this fare type are eligible to receive complimentary limousine transfers at participating airports when travelling on international long haul flights operated by Virgin Australia, and on some domestic connecting flights within Australia.

I know we're always giving VA's IT team a hard time, but today I noticed something working that I really didn't expect.

I was adding a friend's Velocity number to her booking (made through Expedia on EY flight numbers), and found she had a couple of sectors on VA metal. I log in to VA's website with her Velocity number and there is the booking!

Their systems actually talk to each other!

But, alas... couldn't select seats. As you were, VA website.

The VA web site is just refusing to select any J options whatsoever on the Brisbane Cairns route for travel next week or for months to come tonight.

it will only provide Y options on every flight. ........ But alas 2.

I see J seats on almost every flight from today + next lot of days...... however .. when using a older version of IE , the page does not display properly and J appears to be missing
