My friend was Status matched to silver a few weeks ago, but now he is a Gold Qantas FF, after he was upgraded to business on a trip to LAX.

Can he re apply to get Velocity gold? I know he is switching his flights to Virgin after he saw there Melboirne lounge.

Your friend can try but I would not like their chances of getting another status match so close to the last one.

You could always send a PM to Velocity Frequent Flyer and ask the question.

So they matched him to silver, he continued to fly with the competition, and now he expects to be matched to gold? I don't think so.

No harm in asking - at worst they will say no. At best they will upgrade to Gold.

Probably already had forward confirmed bookings when the first match was done. I'm in a similar situation - I can get a match to silver now, but I already have some forward bookings which would take me to QF gold in the near future.
