Hertz are also giving away a prize:

From 1 December 2010 through to 28 February 2011 when renting with Hertz enter your Velocity Membership Number and you will automatically go into the draw to win 200,000 Velocity Points, 2 return economy Virgin Blue flights within Australia and seven days car rental with Hertz! For shorter rentals the VS 1100 (Hertz Gold) or 1000 miles per rental is still better but longer term rentals are a good candidate for Velocity accrual.

You would think so wouldnt you.

But it doesnt add up to 5 points per dollar, never does, and seems fairly random most of the time.

Mind you I dont know what the math is done on, One would assume it would be to total cost at the end of the rental.
(Total was 335.71 if you cant read it properly)

No your total is $224, miles are paid on km and time charges only before taxes, so yours makes perfect maths! Had you used the promo code you would have got an extra 1500:

I used to post my Hertz miles to QF, but obviously this is now a dead duck.

I've looked at posting them to DJ, but the Hertz website doesn't seem to have a DJ option.

So I now post them to UA.

Farcical, really.

They do in the No1 profile under velocity rewards and also in the retro credit section, for 1 or 2 day rentals I credit to VS as its 1100 miles flat.

Hertz does have a DJ option (Atleast I know they have for the last 6 months)

See points appear everytime i hire a car from Hertz.
It's listed under Velocity, in your profile there is Frequent Flyer Program Spot :)

My Account - > Membership Details - Frequent Traveler, Add in Velocity Rewards and add your Velocity Number.

*snip*

Do I have to call ando/or book via Virgin, use the Hertz website only as we have aCDP Number to use, which can only be done direct with Hertz.

I dont think we can use both our CDP and a Promo code on the same hire :/

As for miles paid on KM, does that even count for City hire's considering they have "Unlimited KM's" - Atleast all my hires do :/

Its finished now but often promo codes can work with a CDP that you have, I have not had any issues unless it was a promo that said use code xx_ and CDP, which this one was not.

I'll keep my eye out for the Next Hertz Promo..

Just wish they would move me to 5* already so I can stop hiring the XR6 on-purpose :D

Would be good if the DJ number was picked up by the system! I've had to manually chase 5 sets of points this year when the DJ number vanished and no points were awarded:rolleyes:

It is obvious as a Velocity Gold and renting from Hertz for 3 days or more then it is good to credit to Velocity.

Of course if you only rent for 1 or 2 days and are not too fussed with the piddly points earn on DJ (or QF for that matter) then why not credit to VS? You will be surprised. ;)

And here shows my newbieness...

VS? :)

So, looking at VS to dump 1-2 dy hire's it appears I have to use their CDP number to gain the miles thou?

Im I seeing this correctly?
Therefor, cant use our company CDP to get our contracted rates?

Virgin Atlantic Airways - Popup

You still can use the company CDP (I do), the earn is at a reduced rate - 500 miles per rental + 100 more if you are Hertz #1 Gold

You can use your own CDP and still get a credit, its 500 for corporate rates and 1000 for public + 100 miles for #1 club:

23 Sep 2010 Hertz Car Rental 1000
23 Sep 2010 Hertz Gold Bonus 100
28 Sep 2010 Avis, Car Rental - Leisure 1000
29 Sep 2010 Hertz Corporate Rental 500
29 Sep 2010 Hertz Gold Bonus 100

Darn! I have not been putting the #1 club number in my car rental bookings and have been missing out on the 100 miles bonus.

No big deal as most times Avis is cheaper in Brisbane anyway.

Does anyone have any experience in how long points take to post after a car hire (to Velocity?) Just wondering before I fill in the missing points form.
