With the Bain recapitalizing Virgin Australia there was a mention to better integrate the Velocity and Virgin Australia experience.

I tend to think the name "Velocity" was used in part that it could be the membership / frequenet flyer for different companies (similar to FlyBuys).

If this integration was to happen what do people think about the name.

IE Should it be "Virgin Australia Rewards", "Virgin Australia Frequent Flyer" or leave as is?

... I always type "Velocity Rewards" (it's previous name) into google to get to the site quickly (I know bookmarking would be better).

It wasn't called Virgin something for licensing reasons. Even if you look at many of their emails, the Virgin word is barely mentioned.

Changing its name would depend on licensing.

They "probably" would stick with the current name.
If you look at a lot of other names, its all been already taken.
Aust/AusAir sounds too close to the former Australian Airlines, Airlines of Aust sounds too close to the former Airlines of South Aust, even the OZ IATA code is already taken by Asiana.
BainAir, that would be about the only thing that will have a linkage name to the owner, granted it sounds like BaneAir, as the bane of my contention.
Even JetAir would sound like Jetstar/Jet Airways of India.
AusJet is also taken, by a small airline in Essendon.

They wasted enough over the years. Spending the money to rebrand a whole airline for no reason isn't a good use of the limited funds available
At some point they will need to start paying royalties again for the licensing of the Virgin name. Given the publics perception of them being liquidated, refusing refunds etc... Now could be the right time to rebrand.

You know, that inverted Ansett sign as in your profile pic, looks quite nice, Anstar.
Maybe that would be good, grin, but really, what other name could they (Bain) go with?
Your inverted (former) tail ensign of the former Ansett, till looks like a V, but its not the current V logo, and its not the current Ansett, if you take away the colours, but just use the V and the star.
Not sure who owns the Ansett logo these days.
But, seriously though, what name could they pick?

Given they brought the Virgin Group back into the tent, I suspect they've decided it's a net positive to keep the name.
