Hi all
Wondering about the reliability of getting a Comfort Plus upgrade on Delta if you’re Velocity Gold?
Looking at booking flights direct with Delta. Main is Euro 487, Comfort + Euro 757, but when I get to finish booking Main, Comfort + is available for Euro 28 extra.
Don’t want to pay extra if I don’t have to ;)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes just me. Does it depend on how many spare + seats they have? I assume I won’t know until boarding? They are 7+ hour flights.

You can find out on the Delta App where you are on the list around a day or so out from the flight. As said above it depends on how many seats are available and how many higher status members request for an upgrade. I didn't get upgraded on a busy boxing day flight from DTW to SFO as i kept getting bumped down the list by Delta Medallion members (was Velocity gold at the time) started 3rd on the list, was 9th by boarding time. Personally i'd pay the 28 Euro's to guarantee 7hrs of extra leg room.

Was recently in the USA and took numerous flights with DL. As a Platinum VA I was always bumped to the bottom of the list when it came to C+. On one flight there were 22 people on the list and I was number 22, having started somewhere around 15 or so - it's kind of depressing to see your name go further down the list. On another flight out of BNA I was at number 2 and received an upgrade no problem. Another day and even greater success - upgraded to First from SLC to OAK. But as stated above, if you want to guarantee your seat in C+, it's best to pay for it, and then potentially get bumped to F depending on flight load.

Delta gives these seats away for free to all their elites, Diamonds & Platinums can get them at booking, then Gold and Silver are on the upgrade list. You are behind all those. On popular routes you have almost zero chance. Lighter routes you have a shot.

If you book comfort +, you'll get 3x status credits compared to discount economy. You'll get some extra points as well but not sure exactly how many. Most would say that is well worth the extra SC.

Thanks for all your replies :)
Could I also ask are the comp upgrades available on this (international) route or are they US only?
Also how do you update your preferences on the Delta site to get an auto upgrade?
Confusing!
I was mistaken about the price difference, a digit missing on my phone display. I’m on a budget and don’t need the extra SCs.

Difficult to access the information but as Gold I’m apparently eligible for same day upgrade subject to availability . Still not sure how to access.

I think you have to be realistic, upgrades are few are far between these days and you are at bottom of a potentially long list of Delta status holders not to mention VA Platinum all ahead of you..

You state that you on budget and don’t need to extra SC and are not willing to pay for an upgrade.. so, travel in the class you booked and if an upgrade happens, at checkin, gate, onboard then happy days..
