Hello all

Need some help whether I need to take a status run, or trust the Velocity website.

I'm currently VA Gold with an upcoming review date of 7 June 2019. Since 7 June 2018, I have not flown any eligible sectors.

However, I have the following activities in my account:

Nov 2017: 1 eligible sector and 40 SC
Jan 2018: 2 eligible sectors and 481 SC
Feb 2018: 2 SC
Mar 2018: 1 eligible sector and 42 SC
Apr 2018: 2 SC
May 2018: 10 SC
Jul 2018: 1 SC
Aug 2018: 1 SC
Sep 2018: 720 SC

So at the moment, according to the dashboard on the VA website, the Gold part shows 400 of 400 SC to maintain and 0 of 4 eligible sectors. I get this part as I haven't flown any eligible sectors since June 2018.

However, on the Platinum part, it shows 1299 of 1000 SC to upgrade and 4 of 8 eligible sectors to upgrade. In the app, it even says "You have earned the Status Credits required but you also need to fly 4 more Eligible Sectors by 7 June 2019 TO UPGRADE TO PLATINUM Status".

I am of the understanding that if I were to only fly 4 more eligible sectors just before 7 June 2019, then the eligible sectors I earned in Nov 2017, Feb 2018 and Mar 2018 would have expired by then, so I wouldn't satisfy the 8 eligible sector requirement. Or is the VA app/website dashboard incorrect?

If someone can shed some light, that would be much appreciated.

The daily count for upgrade to a higher status takes the preceding 365 days into account.

If you fly 4 eligible segments before November this year you will upgrade to WP.

If you don't do that but fly 5 eligible segments before Jan 2019 you would upgrade to WP( 5 as the November 2017 segment and the 40 SC 'drops off')

So that means the wording in the app is technically incorrect since it says 4 sectors before June 2019?

Yes, it is confusing - that's what you would need to do to retain SG.

That is the retain [SG] counter - it's what you earn between review dates to stay a status level.

Thanks serfty.

Now I just need to find somewhere to fly. Got 2 sectors booked in Dec. Now cheapest I found for 3 sectors in Jan 2019 on a Friday is MEL-OOL-SYD-MEL for about $280 same day return. Trying to find a lower price to get Platinum.

Snap! My VA Gold review date is also 7 June 2019 :)

We're in a similar boat this year, will qualify for platinum early in the new year (1045 SC to be precise) but only 4 eligible VA sectors as most of our earn this year has been on SQ and MI. Will probably do SYD MEL LST day trip return in December to get the sectors - and visit our favourite winery in Tamar Valley!
