Hello,

Can someone explain the system/logic behind VA’s fare classes and what is available to buy.

Example: CBR MEL tomorrow
CBR 15:15 → MEL 16:30
J1 C0 D0 Y9 B9 W0 H0 K0 L0 R0 E0 O0 N0 V0 P0 Q0 T0 I0 S0 F0 U0

Only Y and B left.

On the app when looking to book:
Lite
$489.00

Choice
$552.00

Flex
$672.00

So it seems Lite is still offered even when only B and Y are available which would generally be know as full fare Economy and one down from that as in a semi restricted fare.

How do they tie this through to the fare classes? Where’s there’s a will there’s a way, just seems to break with the norms and makes it difficult for other industry systems to price.

Anyone have some inside knowledge on VA rev managment?

New fare structure:

There's a brand code within the fare basis (LT for Lite, CH for Choice, FL for Flex)

So for a fare code of 'O', you could get a Fare Basis of OZLTO, OZCHO, or OZFLO. All 'O' but a fare brand code within the fare basis as well.

Ok, that makes sense now in the full fare code.

So, from the table linked in the previous post, you will get the option for an LT fare all the way up to B.

Makes a huge $$$ difference to last-minute fares in comparison to QF.
