Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was after. Is that from memory or does my google-fu need training? I couldn't find that info anywhere.

They have a funky interactive route map which used to be linked to from the old VA site:
http://virginaustralia.innosked.com/(S(1khdbhuvbcyouq45b5umbrig))/default.aspx?station=DJVINTL&lang=EN&icon=9

From Brisbane it promotes exotic international destinations such as "Adelaide" and excluding codeshares doesn't work very well. But VA shorthaul destinations have been stable for a few years now so it should give you a reasonable idea even if there is some risk of it being a little out of date.

I'd love to find a flexible fare that earns double dc and then use my plat upgrades!

I've find it can be quite picky when it comes to date/route/fare class.

It did slice a chunk off my PER - SYD - CNS flexis last night

I was trying it on the OOL - PER flexis we were talking about earlier.

Looks like I'll have to arrive in OOL on the Thursday night before & leave OOL to return to SYD on Tues.

And I am still wondering why if you booked say SYD-HKG return in the promo period (you are booking on flight VA7991 Virgin Atlantic metal but VA flight number). Are they trying to say that VA7991 is not a Virgin Australia flight? Or are they saying that VA7991 is not an "eligble" Virgin Australia flight? If so - where is the list of what is and what isn't eligable?

T&C's from double SC Velocity site:

Earn double Status Credits for a limited time
For a limited time only, Velocity members can earn Double Status Credits when flying on eligible Virgin Australia flights between 1 February - 30 June 2014. To take advantage of this offer, members must book by 31 December 2013. This offer is valid for new bookings made between 18 December - 31 December 2013 inclusive, for travel on eligible Virgin Australia flights between 1 February - 30 June 2014 inclusive. Eligible flights include any flights operated by Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa with a Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa (VA) flight number, and flown in a fare class and itinerary that normally earns Status Credits. Please check the
Status Credits Earn Fare Classes table to determine if you are eligible for Status Credits accrual. Charter flights, ground or sea transport services including those marketed with a Virgin Australia (VA) flight number, and codeshare services operated by partner airlines are not eligible for this offer. Single or return sectors qualify and can be flown in either direction. Normal Velocity rules apply to retrospective claims which must be raised within 6 months from date of flight. Status Credit earn rates are subject to the Membership Terms and Conditions.

See the underlined and bold bit in the T&Cs above.

I've now booked SYD - OOL - MEL - PER - MEL - OOL - SYD for April.

Looking forward to more Vlounge time in OOL & MEL & my first Vlounge time in PER. Hope that Cove fixes it before then! :p

Upgrading to J on the A332 erk?

Im thinking something similar also , some good valve out of OOL .

It certainly has it's benefits as a home port!

Erk, I think I've lucked out so far, seat map is showing 2-2-2 both directions! I think I'll be happy as long as it's not subbed for a 738!

I'll have to have a look myself at the seat map. I leave on 11/4.

I was able to make it so I was able to position myself without needing to overnight in OOL in either direction.

Now that I've booked the last cheap J seat on BNE-DPS on 8 February 2014 (sorry if you were thinking of flying that day), I'm wondering if the DSC applies to an any seat award so I could have used points instead?

The key for me is how to get to 400 SCs without wasting too many SCs.

I'm hoping as the T&C say fare class and flight numbers are all that are required ASA's will get DSC...

I managed to book CNS-MEL-PER using TRA01 in early March in Y for just under$360. If I am correct that's 160SC for about $2.25/SC. I'm based in Melbourne and still need to book a flight to CNS a few days before, so with a little creativity should be able to pick up another 60 SC or so. IN January I have a couple of MEL-PER flights that unfortunately will miss the start of DSC.

Upgrading to J on the A332 erk?

Looking at my points totals so far as of right now, I've got 46k points. Looking around the VA/VFF sites, I could get MEL - PER both ways in J on points & have some leftover for that trip in April. Or I've got enough (just!) to get either SYD - AUH or AUH - SYD in J on points for June. If somehow I manage to get more than double my current total, I could do both. I have a lot of flights & points coming my way Jan/Feb but I haven't worked out how many.

I don't think I need to make a choice now, do I?

You should be ok, I upgraded and around march flight on the weekend and got 1J/K without any problems. Even if you only upgrade one direction that could be fun and only 9,900 points!

John K, I booked a VA J saver MEL-PER-HKT o/way for $A1,750 (and this yield 400 S/Cs o/way) + 2 VA sectors. Day flight ex Mel 0915 arr HKT 1745. Yes, i know not the most comfortable on the 73H in J- but at least it is a daylight connecting trip and the coast to coast to coast A332 in J. (hopefully not subbed). A R/T is currently even cheaper. in "I" class both ways for $2,750. ( Yield 800 S/Cs) Snag being, the return is 6 hours o'night from HKT PER in a 73H. no flat bed, etc...
cheers, PJ

That's an interesting routing and SC haul, sir. Are you able to spell out yr SC calculations?
