Using QFF for other airlines

Hi
Realtively new to making the most of Qantas FFP. I have accumalated well over 200,000 points and looking for the best options to get my wife and I to to europe and back in july 2008.
Noticed suggestions of buying economy and upgrading which sounds okay.

can I use them for other airlines? read the article in AFR which suggested this could be done?

Hi cges, welcome to AFF.

You can book award flights with Qantas Frequent Flyer points on airlines other than Qantas. These airlines are mainly members of oneworld.

You can only use Qantas Frequent Flyer points to upgrade on Qantas aircraft when flying on a Qantas flight number.
