We are flying back from Auckland on LAN next month, via Sydney, then onto Melbourne and I am considering booking the Jetstar flight that leaves from the international terminal so that we can use the Flounge (I'm WP). The LAN flight arrives in Sydney at 7.30am and there are two Jetstar flights available, JQ29 at 11.15 and JQ35 at 15.15. We are considering booking JQ35 and spending the day in the lounge but is 6+ hours going to be too long? The plan would be to have breakfast and lunch and try for a spa booking. Only problem I see is not being able to check in for the Jetstar flight till lunchtime so is it possible to go to the lounge beforehand or do we need to go through immigration when we land? Does anyone know if we can go to the lounge in the morning and then go check in for the Jetstar flight later? We'll only have carry on so don't need to worry about collecting bags.

Go the longer connection as LAN has a tendency to run late. Sometimes quite late.

If it runs to time, well, plenty of time in the F lounge so not all bad.

Check in does not open until 3 hours before departure.

You can't use the lounge (as you must go through immigration) until you have checked in.

Presactamont!

JQ35 check in will open approx 12:15pm - JQ29 will open 8:15AM. With JQi, the only place you can check in is at the counters.

JQ35 is still doable; walk or train across to domestic T3 and have your shower and breakfast in the Domestic J lounge - take the 11:40am bus back and join the JQ35 queue.

Does JQi not allow for online check-in? Then with only carry-on, you could print your boarding pass out, and not have to worry about when the check-in desks open.

Nup - so the rest is moot.

I used to do JQ35 SYD to MEL often back when it was < $300 in Starclass. I once found myself in T1 checkin 4 hours before the flight and had to wander around for an hour or so.

JQi did let me OLCI for JQ35 the other week. The CIA's were very surprised when I walked up with my BP. I needed the Orange "D" anyway, so it's pointless, but it let me check in around 36 hours prior to my outbound leg, which was some 72 hours before JQ35. Strange.
