Hi All,

I have a $300 AA compensation voucher from a trip last year and I'm stumped for ideas of how to use it here in AUS. I have tried to find an AA codeshare with Qantas to use it on but the AA website isn't having a bar of it. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could do with it apart from trying to sell it to someone who might be able to use it?

Cheers

Welcome aboard!

As you no doubt know, that will have to be used for an AA flight, which sort of limits you to travel either to or within the US. AA can't sell you an AA code in Australia without it being in conjunction with an international flight.

Was in a similar situation and TomVexille has answered the question with the same answer AA gave me. Hopefully you'll either return to the US, or find someone who can use the voucher with (hopefully) some credit being returned to you!

I got one of those vouchers from AA a few years ago. Like you I wasn't able to use it in Australia so I put it towards some flights on my next trip to the US.

I realise this doesn't help the OP much now, but after that second trip I was so fed up with AA that I specifically told them not to give me a credit voucher (as I had no plans to fly AA again). I was given 10,000 AAdvantage miles instead, which I was able to redeem for a domestic Qantas flight.

Thanks to you all! Unfortunately I'm not going to get up to the US during my trip to Chile in a few weeks so I'm going to have to see if I can find someone who might like to take it off my hands. I'd not considered Mattg's idea of getting miles instead of the voucher, that's a very useful tip which I'll surely use if I find myself in this situation again.

Cheers

After my recent experience on AA in J - LAX-HKG, dirty toilets, lost baggage, grumpy and unhelpful FAs, running out of food, like Mattg I will also stay away from them in future.
