Ta. Don't worry, I've been wiping down surfaces on planes and hotels (daily) for 10 days now and scrubbing my hands to put Lady Macbeth to shame. Before I left, I purchased 2 x 0.5 litre hand sanitisers and packs of alcohol wipes and its been a good investment. I think tomorrow might see the P95 mask brought out for the first time.

It’s getting really bad. As a family we’ve cancelled all International travel. Big call for us as we do 4/5 trips a year.

Could easily get sick here, but the added complications of travel just isn’t worth it IMO.

A look at border restrictions in Europe
Various European countries have closed their borders or announced new restrictions in the past day or two. Here's a summary of some of the measures introduced:
  • Denmark: Bans all foreigners from entering without a valid purpose (such as residency or emergency family visit)
  • Poland: Foreigners banned from entering from Sunday
  • Czech Republic: Bans all foreigners from entering the country, except those with residence permits. Bans its own nationals from leaving
  • Slovakia: Closes borders to all foreigners except Poles and those with a residence permit
  • Austria: Closes three land border crossings with Italy to all foreigners, except those with a medical certificate issued within four days. No restriction on Austrian nationals
  • Ukraine: Closes border crossings to foreigners (except diplomats) for two weeks
  • Hungary: Closes land borders with Austria and Slovenia
  • Slovenia: Closes six border crossings with Italy. Bus and train travel suspended. Foreigners may only enter with a medical certificate issued within three days
  • Serbia: Closes border crossings with Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia
  • Romania: Closes borders with Hungary, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Moldova
  • Albania: Closes borders with Montenegro, Kosovo and North Macedonia
The BBC also reports that the Donald is thinking of adding UK to the Schengen list.

I just don't get the border closing stuff - it seems to be a voodoo mix of politics and science and full of loopholes. You ban other nations from coming in but your own citizens can come in who are just as likely to bring in the virus. For example Slovakia closing its borders to everyone except Poles. So the Poles are virus-free are they?

I think it might be time for a chill pill. China is the EPICENTER of the virus. All other country outbreaks originate from China. As for defending certain political decisions, aside from being completely unnecessary and pointless. I have not yet heard an Italian politician say that covid19 is a hoax by by political opponents.

One leader stands alone is trying to pretend this pandemic doesn't exist. Coupled with the health system in the USA, that country is a disaster waiting to happen, with a completely unellightened leadership.
 
I was at PDL last Friday, just before the final flight from the Azores to the USA (S4 281 to BOS) before the travel ban came into effect departed. The flight was completely full and there were several distressed Americans at the Azores Airlines ticket counter that were trying to buy tickets but couldn't.
