Found this interesting bit of information about baggage insurance in the USA.I certainly was unaware of the limits.

I think serfty has posted the legal entitlements in each continent a number of times.

I have nothing to worry about. The contents of my luggage would struggle to reach $1,000 unless off course I am carrying presents from my mother to her sisters....

Most of my references have been in relation to International flights and the applicable Montreal or Warsaw conventions.
