Might have to reconsider Tassie.Launceston last month was without ATC for 4 hours when one called in sick.Under MEL radar control.
I don’t see it as an issue. Many airfields operate without positive control as their norm.

And it works well as long as it's also the normal mode of operation for the pilots. I recall trying to operate to an Australian airport, when a dispute had taken ATC out of the picture. Even with prior agreed procedures, a couple of majors from just north of us, ignored everything.

Update - Tucker Carlson has been successful in getting rid of the biographical questionnaire component of the selection criteria for Air Traffic Controllers in the USA. In future, selection will be based on merit.

He announces it at the 35 minute mark.of the following program, in his discussion with a Department of Transport representative.

Accepted applicants will be trained at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Active duty military members must provide documentation certifying that they expect to be discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions no later than 120 days after the date the documentation is signed.

I like bargains Dr.Ron.
If one watches the main Fox News shows. they seem to be replaying segments of CNN, MSNBC, ABC continuously.
So one gets to see all of them at once - all the significant points of view - without having to waste time and flick around the channels all the time on Foxtel.
That's fair and balanced coverage.
And one learns about aviation issues as a bonus - this one was never mentioned on the other networks.
Cheers,
Renato
