US to require social media details from all visa applicants

So, is everyone saying good things about the most intelligent , smartest President of the USA? :)
What do you mean? Or rather, who? This requirement was invented in the Obama period. :)

I have seen conflicting reporting on this today (in the media). Can anyone (with certainty) confirm that this does not apply to ESTA's (ie that this info is still just a voluntary thing on the ESTA application).

I have heard several times that it will affect "15 million" people per annum - so I feel that is only those seeking visas that are not ESTA's??

It's only for anyone seeking to study or work, at the moment.

Yes, well as Obama has moved on, it probably doesn't matter what I say about him?

Edit: May need to praise the Trumpster now

I am just thankful that it is still relatively easy as an aussie to go through the USA. I absolutely hate the customs/immigration experience that this still entails, but I also recognize they are a nation hated by many and thus have many threats. I still actually consider the chance to go to another country to be an amazing luxury, and global tourism not to be a "God-given" right.

I was talking to an Indonesian woman on the HKG Airport train yesterday, she was, I estimate. in her 40s and was going home after her first ever overseas trip. She was a professional in her field and always going to go home home but the visa process is very hard for her to visit most countries. Hong Kong is a visa free destination for Indonesians but they face way more scrutiny than we ever would. The cost is high compared to her wage and so on.

Talking to interesting people while I travel means I really appreciate just how lucky I was to win the birth lottery of being an Australian and not really having to worry about such trifling issues as visa for 100+ countries.

Pfffttt,,,,,I will skip the US. Too many stupid and over the top requirements now. Better to spend my money on more welcoming countries. (In which there are many)

And according to the acerbic entertaining and perspicacious Bill Maher on HBO, Mr T will continue to be so if the Dems don’t learn to start saying, “it’s a tax” as the Reps do.

But the Trumpster says that it's him.

I agree, especially considering Australia requires just about everyone to have a visa (or some sort or other) to come here!
