Global Entry

Has anyone applied for this yet? And actually been approved?
I've just put in a application through GOES (Global Online Enrolling System) and will see where it goes!!!!!!!
I paid the $25 and will see if it gets me anywhere.

Global Entry is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, Dutch citizens, and Mexican nationals. Canadian citizens and residents may enjoy Global Entry benefits through membership in the NEXUS program.

Can't see your location via the iPad; hope you haven't wasted 25 bucks - I note the website states the application fee is $100?

Yep Yep - not available to Australians unfortunately.

I went through this same exercise last year looking at Global Entry. :(

This might be a silly question... but why Dutch citizens? Not that I have anything against that, but I'm a little curious.

Smartgate might be too advanced for them to reciprocate with ;)

Now ... if they could just set up smartgate for departures, like they have in New Zealand.

I must admit that I have often wondered why it is that we can "chip in" when we arrive but we can't "chip out" when we leave.
Does anyone know a logical reason for why?
I guess the huge problem would be who collects our departure cards

Dammit!! I can't believe I walked straight passed these and didn't click!!!

If course - the scale ladies used to always be there (so you avoided them by turning left and using the preclearance lane).

But now the scale ladies are on the left (but waved me through when they saw the preclearance sticker :)).

Can you avoid them if you use smartgate?

Do not try to use smartgate leaving. Nz if u have been precleared... computer doesn't like it.

They have customs officers to collect outbound cards and give them a onceover if I recall correctly.

On my last international departure 2 weeks ago the Immigration Officer mentioned that Smart Gate departures are imminent! Interesting to see what the definition of "imminent" is!

It works, well, it might!
I've received "conditional approval" but I now need to go to an interview, and guess what - I can only do that in the next 30 days, and only in the US of A!!!!!!!
Bugger!

Are you a Dutch citizen??

If you're simply an Aussie - then I would think this won't go through, and I'm surprised you got this far..??

Please report back and let us know!!

Definately not Dutch!!!
I put the application in as it was suggested by the lady at the immigration desk at LAX on my last visit, and I too am surprised it got this far.
Only problem is I won't be back in the US til Feb, so I might not get to my "interview" in time.
Will see what happens.

You might be disapointed as I was, SENTRI is only for land entry and cannot be used at the airports. 30 days is only for booking for interview, you can book a few months ahead and when you attempt to do you will see all interview locations are near the land borders near mexico.

There is no global entry for Australian citizens other than Sentri unfortunately.
When you register for GOES it is a bit confusing it only gives you two option and do not show global entry option and automatically we think the option does not say truck driver must be the one.
