Just noting the Presidential ballot access requirements for independents in some States:

Arizona - 3% of registered voters - 4/9 deadline
California - 196,964 signatures (1% of registered voters) - 7/8 deadline
Florida - 132,781 signatures (1% of registered voters) - 15/7 deadline
Michigan - 30,000 signature with at least 100 each in at least half of the congressional districts - 16/7 deadline
New York - 26/5 deadline passed
North Carolina - 3/3 deadline passed
Pennsylvania - 5000 - 3/8 deadline
Texas - 11/5 deadline passed
Wisconsin - 2000 signatures - 4/8 deadline

Of course write-in votes can happen, regardless of whether they are formally counted.

It’s possible that Kanye might be to Biden what arguably Perot was to Bush snr and Nader was to Gore.

92 with a weakening economy you could equally argue Bush snr was going to lose anyway.

00 would the Nader votes go to Gore in Florida? Or not appear at all.

As you also probably know, the US also doesn't have compulsory voting.

We just have to see how this plays out.

Interesting read and video.

Meanwhile, Kanye West may be a tad confused as to who his electorate may be.

“ ...That comment prompted gasps and groans from some in the audience.

“I did smoke a little bit last night,” West added a short time later”.

It would be funny watching this train wreck unfold if it wasnt about the election of a World Leader. God bless America. They are screwed.

I don't think too many people pay too much attention to the political shenanigans in the US these days. We don't watch the news, we try and avoid listening to Trump's daily carry on, even driving in the car I listen to spanish radio so I don't get stressed by whatever disaster he's causing. Truth is most people have already decided who they are going to vote for so no need to pay any attention.

I'm not convinced there is actually a choice that is right for the US right now. No wonder why people choose not to vote.

Neither candidate would be someone I would choose as my preferred candidate but when you look at what's on offer everyone can easily come up with the lesser of two evils. It's not compulsory voting, however I'm of the belief if you don't vote you don't get to cough about the result if it's not to your liking.

The only choice that is right is to get rid of Trump - his leadership is literally killing people :(.
I think US is too far gone on the covid trail sadly for a new president to make any difference by the time they are sworn in. So some might make choices based on other sentiments. Which gets back to the original comment. Agree re Trump but my bet is that he will stand down before the election anyway.

Wow - I don’t see that - he is way too narcissistic to do something like that. Unlike in Australia where the party controls things Presidents seem to be kings with no control over them at all. I tend to agree with Covid being out of control, but there are still things happening, like the republicans in the Senate want more money allocated to testing - White House is trying to reduce that money to zero. If Trump lost even though the new President doesn’t take over for months, surely they could assert some control over that. Or maybe not - the USA bemuses me. Worst thing that ever happened was Master FM moving there, as I have had to take an interest in what happens there.....

This morning he was going on against postal votes and he will question/challenge if he loses in November

Because closing down the only voting place while voters are outside is the right way

So what is Master FM's plan? How long has he been in the US and is he doing his Green Card/citizenship? Problem with being an expat is a lot of us were just going somewhere for a few years then you look around and it's been 10. At some point you do reach the point of no return back to Oz for the job market and you find yourself more aligned with your foreign home than your homeland. It's a slippery slope and especially when spouses/partners are from different countries of origin. Someone has to give in and be the expat.
