Well, I'm obviously the first

2 pax, both in J

SYD-NOU-SYD, 21/12 to 29/12

30K + $150 in taxes each

10 min on the phone, all confirmed and ticketed and given both US Air and Qantas booking numbers straight away

a bit of trouble with their voice recognition system, it did not get Noumea (obviously has not been updated to reflect the new reality -:)) and wanted to send us to Delhi instead

So did you use the voice robot completely or did you get an agent after you realised the robot seemed incapable?

I always go straight to the agent, but then again most of us will because multi-city itineraries must be booked by agents (the robot cannot do them).

And so the new era is ushered in!

Used the robot, it got everything but the destination ....so eventually put me through to a very helpful agent who had a laugh about it. Though she did not know where NOU was or what it was, either, and had to be given the airport code

Just booked a simple reward itinerary for the in laws. On the phone for 15-20 and half of that was for the great rep to calculate the taxes.

LHR - KUL MH J
KUL - PER MH J
SYD - SIN QF J
SIN - LHR BA F

150k plus a ghastly $496 in taxes

You've actually gotten off lightly...I reckon they have forgotten to add BA's YQ surcharge which would probably have added 100s! Remember - they should pass on YQ for BA/IB.

Thats true so a BA round trip from LHR to SYD would incur some serious $$$

Confused by this one. It took about 4 hours worth of phone calls to USDM and A LOT of help from AFF members, thank you.

For 2 passengers, J all the way..

PER - HKG CX J
HKG - LHR CX J
LHR - HKG CX J
HKG - KUL CX J
KUL - PER MH J

Total of 120,000 USDM (60,000 Each! ) And $508 USD Each in Taxes.....

Good win!!

Great to see the first few oneworld redemptions roll off the phone lines with the new system, a whole lot earlier than many of us hypothesised! :)

Nice.

I won't complain for ;) reasons, but I'm wondering how the taxes are so high. APD only accounts for about $300, then $47 or so for the AU tax. Does the $508 include the booking fee?

She could not give me a breakdown, said it just showed a total amount. It included the $25 booking fee. I questioned it, it seemed very high. I asked if the $508 was maybe for both of us, and she said no, its each. They have only deducted 60,000 miles from each account so I'm tempted to stay quite!

Nice.

If HKG & KUL are transits in a LHR-//-PER journey then the maximum £188 APD applies (~AUD340). It is $57 to depart Australia.

Add the USD25 booking fee and there's ~$420 already.

It's possible they've managed to included departure taxes for airports which are only simple transits - they do that sometimes. Also on my last *A booking I was charged both the $50 booking fee plus the $40 call centre fee...which has never happened before. I didn't bother chasing it up because it was a 30k GUM booking which was super easy to book and I was happy.

in The Rok's situation at 60k pp there's no way I'd be chasing this up. I suspect all is correct anyway.
