Multiple purchases ... but the max bonus you can receive is 50k.

This sounds stupid as I should know this, but can someone please verify whose "bonus" gets used up when you are gifting miles?

Example: Three people A, B and C.

A gifts C 50k miles. C receives 100k. Obvious.

Now B gifts C 50k miles. Does C receive another 100k miles, or only 50k miles?

As a consequence, if A or B now buy miles for themselves, do they get any bonus?

Thanks for that. Makes sense I suppose, otherwise all you'd do is supercharge one person's account during these promos, wouldn't you?

Always get confused as to whose bonus gets used up between gifting and sharing, so I see it's all the same.

Each account can only receive ​50K bonus.

There is some evidence to suggest these caps are not always enforced, though who really wants to be the one to test it!

If Person A has 200k points and Person B has 100k points, can these 300k points be used for a single booking for 2 people?

I'm about to buy 50 with the 50 bonus so I will then have 200k in my account. Brother will buy the same 50 + 50 which will make 300 in total - then I want to buy mum & dad a sydney - europe return fare in F, which is 300k total.

Is this possible, or is there a better way to do it?

I don't think it is possible. But you could each buy 50K plus 50K bonus then pay the share cost ($10 per 1,000) to transfer 50K from the account with 200K to the one with 100K. Each account would then have 150K and could book one ticket.

With USDM, does 100% bonus mile mean there is also sharing bonus? I ask because I see the 100% bonus offer on the buy page but not on the share page, but there are some posts asking about bonus on sharing.

Not the same.
Gifting is buying new miles for another.
Sharing is transferring miles you already have to another.

If I have an account and my brother has an account.
During this promo we both buy the maximum 50k.
So each account now has 100k, with the promo.

Can I gift another 50k+50k to my brother and him do the same for me ?

So effectively we've each paid ~US3800 for 200k points ?

Actually the terms and conditions have answered my question

The maximum number of Buy and Gift Bonus miles that can be received by one member for this offer is 50,000 bonus miles. All miles purchased beyond this limit will not be eligible for a bonus

BUYING - you are buying miles, with your credit card, for deposit into your account.

GIFTING - you are buying miles, with your credit card, for deposit into someone else's account.

SHARING - you are taking miles from your account, and depositing them into someone else's account.


:idea: Sharing is similar to a "family transfer" in Australia, but at USDM you may share miles with anyone (i.e. "friends"), not just your family. But...
:!: When you share USDM miles, you will be charged a fee per mile to do so, this unlike in the major Australian programs, where "family transfers" are NOT charged a per point transfer fee.
