Hi ... I'm about to do some point sharing between family accts and trying to get an idea of what I'll need.

Can someone give me a ball park of the points required for:

SYD - CDG (return) in J & F
SYD - JFK (return) in J & F

Thanks

SYD-CDG return is South Pacific to Europe. J 120k, F 150k.

SYD-JFK return is South Pacific to USA. J 110k, F 140k.

You can find these figures on the US Airways website under Dividend Miles, then look for the Partner Award chart under Use Miles. (The chart is a PDF file).

Is the Share Miles promo (i.e. 100% share bonus) still going on, even in November? If not, you will be paying regular prices for these shares....

I wouldnt share at the moment as the share promo is over. search this thread or the US website for the mileage rates.

Like anat0l I think the window of opportunity has closed.

Yes, back to the 100% bonus on buy generic promo for Nov. Miles are sold for $0.035 per mile plus a tax recovery charge of 7.5%.

@x06

Its a buy and a gift bonus this month, no share and not sure when we will see another 100% share promo... But did manage to end up with 3 accounts of 100,000 or over now...

Thanks for the response. Share and buy promo on during Nov also.

I had a look at the award chart and couldn't tell what the cost is for syd - cdg - lax - syd. ie. Continue and come home through the usa...is this considered a round the world ticket?

Thanks for that answer, this was really all I wanted to know!

Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that I've done my homework which was (rather aggressively) suggested by some of the members here. I very much appreciated the help of some friendly individuals who spared a minute for a USairways newbie which resulted in a successful F redemption to Europe next year. I will post the details in the "SUCCESSFUL award bookings" thread and am very very happy, it was well worth going through all the tips and tricks on here :D

I'm looking at buying 50K miles to get 100K.

Once the miles hit my account am i then able to give 50K miles as well to my brother or is it an either or offer? I received an email for the 100% bonus for buying and gifting.

I think that would be classed as sharing, rather than gifting, hence not eligible for this offer.
You just need to "gift" them directly to your brother when making the purchase.

Does anyone know how often US run the 100% bonus share miles promo?

Both SO & I bought miles in October's 100% buy miles offer & were hoping to do this.

Have to book a ticket soonish & will have to purchase some more miles at normal rates otherwise.

There probably won't be a share miles offer for some time. If you bought miles in October then you can still top up now and get the 100% bonus for December - so you won't have to buy the extra miles you need at 'normal rates'.

[h=2]Re: US vs AA vs Lifemiles from AU[/h]
I think that another 100% share US miles promo may be unlikely for a while. Of course I would love to be wrong on this as its the cheapest way of paying for miles!

As far as I can see the 100% share US miles promo before the one in Oct 2012 was May 2010.

Over the past few years my experience has been that the untargetted 100% US buy promos have been 6+ per year, the 100% AV buy promos have been 2-3 times per year and the 100% US share promos have been 1 per two or more years.

As others have said - I wouldnt expect one in the next 12 months.

Utilise the bonus buy promos that are constantly running and look at that share promo as a once in a blue moon 'extra special' promo.

Whether or not it was a bit of a sweetner for the Grand Slam not being offered in 2012, they are a long time between drinks unfortunately....

Is the 100% bonus miles for december a targeted promo?

Went to the US Airways web site but it didn't show any bonus miles with the purchase?

I think it finished on the 7th, never worry there will be one again within next couple of months if their history is anything to go by.
