Urgent question re QF delays PER - LHR tonight - trying to help a mate

Back in November when QF010 was delayed ~180 minutes they let us loose back in the terminal and told we could go to 3-4 fast food stores and simply show boarding pass. I forget the amount. Was it SGD15 or SGD20?

Don't ask me why I stuffed myself at MacDonalds after having a snack in the lounge and then due to get a meal on board as well.

QF31 on Jan 16 was also held in SIN for the best part of 4 hours waiting for passengers from Perth. I had boarded at Sydney, and we were told an hour or so out from SIN that we would be delayed. Continuing passengers were informed that they could present their boarding pass at any of the restaurants in the airport for food and drink (in accordance with their EU travel delay rights).

I hung out in the first lounge, and ended up sleeping on one of the bench seats for about an hour - very little was provided in the way of updates to departure time until boarding was called. Upon enquiring at the counter I was told simply to wait for a boarding announcement.

Interesting, I wonder why I always get a voucher. Maybe they think I will go nuts in the restaurants :!:

If the WPs are in the appropriate lounge, there would be updates given there. I've had experiences (admittedly, they were rare) where the Captain and/or CSM came to the lounge to tell us what was happening, and moved from group to group to do so, rather than use the PA system - a nice, personal touch, but I wouldn't expect it to be standard procedure.

(My favourite hobby horse :()

Appropriate lounge? In PER? Choice of 1.:evil:

My wife and I were on this flight QF31 while Paddy's mate might have made his connection because of the delay we missed our connection to Geneva The reason we were given was they had to repair the entertainment system and there would be a short delay We were lucky to have QC so spent most of the time in the Flounge
we were upgraded from PE to J seats 12EF I think these seats are one of Serfty's
favourite This is our 2nd upgrade in 3 years first time we were NB this time NBQC
so think upgarding must be a lucky dip

Very much a lucky dip but can be reduced to status and ticket bucket, in most cases
