If anyone is unhappy with their first class seat I'll happily trade for my whY seat...
I don't see any takers for that offer, daturtle. ;) I think the only people who really have a preference for any particular F seats are the one who travel in F very regularly, so they know which ones they like and which ones they don't!

Can't blame a guy for trying ;)

Seriously? No one should have any problems with any First class seat.

If it doesn't function properly then that's a problem.
I had 2A out bound on QF 1. It wasn't the best in comfort and the table didn't stow properly. I found it more comfortable to sleep in a semi recline rather than as a lie flat bed. However had 3A inbound on QF 2 , completely different experience. As I had never flown in F on QF before I wasn't aware of the initial problem. Having said all of that , I still would find it hard to actually complain about it, the experience was really good.
Not likely I will do it again, J will deliver my requirements , even long haul ✈

For my travel requirements, J is the absolute minimum for long-haul travel. I cannot go back to Y... *shudder*

Enjoying reading this thread this morning, as last night I dreamt I was in F and slept the whole way, and tried to score even a glass of champagne as I left :p

Must be having withdrawals of something ;)

LOL! You don't want to sleep all the way!! How will you enjoy everything that First class has to offer?! You should be drinking champagne, champagne and more champagne! Dream of the degustation (with matching wines if you can handle it), get just enough sleep and load yourself with lovely espresso before the flight lands. I think that almost qualifies as a wet dream...

Very funny !!!!
I agree with EVERYTHING you just said MH_fan :D.
Sleeping too much in F is for losers !!!!!

Hoping to score an upgrade to F from LAX to SYD. It's already T-14 and still no notification despite seeing 3 seats free on EF...

T-12 and still nothing... :( Now only 2 seats left in F.

T-9 and still nothing. *sigh* I don't think this is happening... :(

Don't give up hope just yet... can be T-5 or possibly even later

I'm at T-29 and hoping for that "improved upgrade experience" to kick in myself

I'm trying not to give up. It's T-6.5 and not a peep yet. I've already got my J boarding pass for QF11 (since I'm connecting from SFO). 2 seats still open in F. I can see that they're processing Y/Y+ to J upgrades though. I don't understand what they're waiting for. Who buys an F ticket 6 hours before departure?!

Have you ticked "Yes" to be considered for an upgrade right up until boarding?

What's this? I didn't see anything about that? I just requested the upgrade at the time of booking and that was it. No mention of being considered right up until boarding.

It needs to be selected as once offered you are agreeing not to refuse. FWIW they will often leave a seat to cover for problems like a seat going US in flight.

Should be interesting getting on board QF12 with a boarding pass for QF11.

Oops. My bad. Yes, QF12. Anyway, I don't remember seeing anything that allowed me to select that option. Oh well, looks like I will be stuck in J on the way back...

One seat left to cater for all the premium cabins, its going to be a busy flight for the crew not in Y.

I see 2 open seats in F and 9 in J. All of the J seats are blocked though but, mind you, I'm seeing it from a SG perspective.

I was looking at EF. Just 1.5 hours until departure and 2 seats still free in F. J cabin almost full now. Only 3 seats left, if I remember correctly. I really don't know why my upgrade request was unsuccessful.
