Wow. That is fast. I was last out of the cabin and also stuck behind some dawdlers but it still only took me about 35 mins from door to T4 lounge. :)

Thanks for all the tips everyone

Woo hoo- just got my upgrade confirmed for Friday. Same trip SYD-LAX and then changing over to AA4. Let's try to copy RooFlyer's Masterpiece from above but I somehow doubt I will manage that. Wow- 30 mins all up!

Congratulations Berlin I know you will enjoy it since there's nothing quite like getting an upgrade for a real long flight.

That IS a pity indeed! Enjoy those Eggs Benedict, I love them! May I ask... Do they have the Bolinger on the menu? I read somewhere that is has been back in the Flounge lately...

On the topic of First, anyone have any not-so-good experiences with either 1A or 1K? (I.e noisewise/proximity to toilets etc). Booked into 1A for QF2 LHR->SYD in November.

I personally would avoid the first row for these very reasons. Also- the crew members "sneak up" on you sometimes due to the strange swivel to the side which I find sometimes a bit of a shock when you just got comfy. I find it easier in the rows from 2 onwards to see them coming but maybe that's only me. Saying all that- really none of the seats in QF First is bad and that boarding pass with the "1A" does look particularly special when you pass those 400+ other passengers queuing up to get on the same plane ;) My personal favourites are 2A and 2K but really, everyone has their pick I guess.

Agree with berlin, even with respect to the 'sneaking up' bit (had 1K my F before last) :). Row 1 is next to the toilets and you get the traffic to same walking past, and the light from the curtain when its opened. Plus the cupboards for the bedding is right next to you and they are accessed whenever beds need to be made up.

That said, I think I recall bossreggie saying that its the only choice!

The 'A' column gets less foot traffic next to it, as only that column is accessible from that aisle. Both other columns of seats are accessed from the other aisle. So 1A would be preferable to 1K

In reality, there are no 'bad' seats in F, only those of a lower preference.

Mr FM and I tend to go for 2A and 3A. 1 A is quite private, but it always looked to me like the cupboard next to it could get irritating, Howeverit is really just nit picking - all of F on the A 380 is great.

My first A380 F flight was in 1A (not chosen by me, points upgrade, plane chockers) SIN-LHR and I had no problems with it. A few wanders past to the toilet but when I slept that did not bother me. Chose 3A on a couple of subsequent flights and no real difference (but I would choose 3A over 1A in future just in case)

Bollinger was definitely there. I saw it on Sunday.

Flew through immigration, in fact the bags held me up from setting a new record!!

AA rep was near gate to give me an express card, really speeded up the process!

Looking at the loads on QF10 tonight there are still 8 unallocated F seats and lots of shadows in the J cabin.

Should have put in for the points upgrade........
