Just wondering how many aff members out there end up with a free room upgrade even though you booked through a 3rd party website?

1. Accor upgrades are extremely limited in terms of hotel chain (only Sofitel*, Pullman and MGallery hotels) excluding many Sofitel eg. Brisbane.
2. YMMV

Got an upgrade to a junior suite at Sofitel Jumeirah Beach Dubai in May as a Platinum off a Hotwire booking.

Have twice been upgraded when not booked through Accor site. Both were through Sunlover Holidays (not by choice but part of my Qld VitaminMe prize). Once in Cairns and once in Townsville.

As another reference point, the Sofitel Melbourne upgraded me to a junior suite on a booking through my work TA this week. I sent a polite email beforehand requesting Platinum benefits for the 3 night stay, and I had the upgrade, chocs, fruit and water waiting for me on arrival.

What have been other people's experiences with being awarded Accor points when booking through a source other than the Accor website. As the check in staff at the Novotel Century in HK pointed out to me the other week, technically only stays booked through the Accor site are eligible. So a GDS/TA booking or anything from other third party sites aren't eligible to earn.

I have only had the problem at this hotel, and others have awarded points on GDS/TA reservations. Just wondered how widespread that little clause was being applied?

i've always been met with that clause so not had lucky with points.

On TA bookings, as per my previous post, Sofitel Melbourne - points earnt, no issues.
I am staying at the Novotel Century next month through the same TA - will be interesting to see what happens.

A TA may book a room at a qualifying rate.

Aside from that, such can happen even for non qualifying rates.

Not had any upgrades at Pullman when booked through Accor site, will see what happens in Berlin and Bangkok in Dec and Jan but not holding my breath :)
not had any points credit for some Novotel stays that were booked through TA

IME, a "Qualifying rate" means you get points, and as a Platinum, Accelerator points.

...

That's it!
