Upgrade check

Thanks Serfty. QF website is now showing this:

Status: Waitlisted
Upgrade Status: Declined.

Then under flight info it says your upgrade has been declined.

Any reason why CMT would be showing different to QF although they both say waitlisted.

Anyway if you say there is still hope I shall wait

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

www.Qantas.com/yourbooking will continue to show declined until the Waitlist comes through.

If it does it will change to confirmed.

If it doesn't it will stay 'declined' and the waitlist will remain on C/M/T even after you've flown (I've still got a waitlisted business segment from June)

I can't bear the suspense! So how did you go in the international upgrade lottery?

The latest it has confirmed into business via check my trip . com for me is 8 hours before flight takeoff.

How long before you leave?

[QF 2 LHR 02/11/09 9:45 PM]

It departs 8:45am Thursday 12th AEDST, so in approx 23 hours and 40 minutes.

I would not give up; I suspect the upgrade requests havn't even been processed as yet. They should be dealing with them sometime in the next 8 - 12 hours.

I reckon your chances are quite high:

Expert Flyer results:
  • Specifying NO airline:
    • R0 F9 A9 J8 C8 D7 W3 T2 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0
or
  • Specifying QF:
    • RC F9 A9 J8 C8 D7 I5 W4 T3 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0
Moreover, only 19 of the 96 seats in F/J/W are showing as allocated in the seat maps. While not definitive this reflects a very light premium load and a very heavy WHY load (almost certainly overbooked).

Thanks Serfty. And thanks to everyone on the board for your assistance and kind words. Y does seem to be very very full so I had hoped for something to come through but the QF website is still showing as declined. I will try to keep you all informed.

I wouldn't give up hope yet. I had a weird situation where my points upgrade request was declined, and then I found out I got op-uped. :D It turned out in my favour.

As I woke this morning to eagerly turn on my PC to log into the QF website I was expecting to see my rejection continued. The rejection advice from Qantas is cold. Your request has been denied has a chilling effect on your travel perspective (not that I ever have been upgraded).

Anywho, I logged in and lo and behold - YOUR UPGRADE REQUEST HAS BEEN CONFIRMED. Those words are so much sweeter. Thanks to all on here. Its my first time in Biz so I hope to post a trip report.

Anyone got a seat suggestion request?

I prefer 23D downstairs, however, as this is your first trip in J I would highly recommend upstairs. Naturally, you won't get the exit row 16, but somewhere in the second or third row from the front would be nice with not too much interference from the FA's or WC.

If I request a window seat is it difficult to get in and out if the other passenger is lying down?

LAffer, congrats on your upgrade. I am now going through same waiting process for next Thursday 19/2 QF10 LHR SIN and the following Sunday QF10 SIN MEL. IN the first case it is definitely a heavy Y load that I can see on Seat Counter but light premiunm load same. the SIN MEL load looks light anyway. It will hopefully be my first upgrade ever.
Fingers Crossed and congrats again

Good luck Lord Mud! If the premium load stays light you stand a good chance. In these economic times, especially out of LHR, I would think that the premium loads might be light for a time to come!

Actually, row 16 can often become available in such circumstances. Only a QF Platinum member (which includes CL members) can pre-allocate the exit row. And if said plat member has also requested an upgrade to F, then a good chance that a row 16 seats can become available about the same time an upgrade to business class comes through. So certainly worth asking since it can be allocated to you at that point in time.

seatcounter is saying D8 and J9 for this Thursday's flight. I am starting to get excited about it.
