Many of you use of my iPhone App Frequent Flyer Calculator.
And already know that version 1.2 is out in iTunes.

And for those who don't have the First Class version - it's Free until the 8th of Sept.

Changes include :
Qantas FF integration on the front page.
Redesigned interface
Route Calculations now include your QF status / Points and SC automatically.
Included an option to only search Qantas destinations.
Connecting to the iTunes Store. (itunes link)

Already working on next version which will (finally) let you have transit stops and take into account different class of travel per sector.
If you don't have it... You have until 8th to get it for free.
(I have discontinued the Free Version at the moment - pending a new app :)

Bought the First Class version and find it very useful. If readers can get it free for a limited time I think it's a good opportunity. :)

I bought the First Class version and was happy to do so. A thumbs up from me.

I just looked at the First Class version on the App Store via my iPhone and it's not free. Is it necessary to do it on a pc or have I missed the deadline?

Might of missed it. Send me a Private Message ;-)

Tried to purchase it (had the free version) but it says "This item is currently being modified. Please try again later"....so I will :D

I believe it happened when iTunes changes the price on the database - being this happens normally on the US side overnight - unfortunately it happens in peak time here.

is it still free or was it till the 8th not on the 8th:?::rolleyes:

Tuppaware did state "until the 8th", so by my reckoning that is was free until 23:59:59 on 7th. Therefore we have mused out. Do you need a loan for the $2.99 ;-)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I was just thinking that I was becoming like my mother-in-law....loving the something for nothing . I'll just buy the app and start using it.:D

Just had an interesting chat with Gm of Marketing and Commerce at Qantas FF.
He flagged some issues they have with my iPhone App. Including trademark and t&c's. Which is fair enough for a large brand like Qantas. The conversation I has was a positive one and I think Qantas FF understands the needs of us loyal members :)
He had praise for development of the app in a space they don't have an area in.

We both agreed that I would remove the app from sale until I make some changes. I won't be turning off the service for those who currently have the app.
But want to make clear that Qantas doesn't endorse or support this app.

Stay tuned as I will be adding a new update in the next couple of weeks.

Did you suggest that people bought perhaps because it did what users needed rather than what some programmer/Marketer in QF thought they could make money from?

I tried to stay clear of politics of their existing application. As I'm sure it meets their target audience. Why else would they make it ?

Smart to keep clear of the politics. Maybe some programmer had some spare time and they wanted to build an App, but didn't have enough time/nouse/ability to do what you have done  (or weren't given the go ahead to do anything further). Perhaps QF thought they had to have some App up and running because some people had been asking for one.

It is next to useless - why not include current SC's as well as points, et al....nah, not worth giving too much thought. There is so much they could do, but I'll bet nowhere near high enough on the priority list to gain traction.

Noticed the application being recommended in one of the newspapers yesterday. That may have brought it to the attention of Qantas.

Thinking it was the Courier Mail or Daily Telegraph.

Really ? Hmmm... You don't remember where?
I will look it up...

Qantas has known about the app for a while-(they follow me on twitter). I was a little excited that my work was being discussed by a large corporation !

Its a shame as I can see Qantas really becoming a market leader in innovation in mobile dev (of course I note their upcoming windows 7 app).
They need to take a risk in this space to make themselves stand out. Even if the 'numbers' don't suggest it will make an improvement.
