Guess we'll just disagree then. Bottom line is they hold the initial power - but in the long term I'm the winner and can vote with my feet
So I will tolerate my short time with them - shame it didn't turn out to be a longer term relationship

I have several other bank/credit card relationships that don't cause me that amount of angst - I will simply return to patronising them - with 30,000 points in my QFF account

So do any of your other credit card providers access your account with out you verifying who you are first?

Not sure about you but I have 3 credit cards from different banks/organisations, and for all 3 it doesn't matter what I'm calling for, but if it pertains to my card, my ID is always verified with a few ID questions.
Indeed.

In fact, if a credit card company disclosed any information whatsoever about my account(s) without first verifying my identity, I'd probably close the account within a day.

Bodog is an example of why security is so hard.

I feel quite sorry for the customer service agents having to deal with customers whose egos won't allow them to spend 20 seconds civilly answering some scripted security questions.

So .... has anyone received the 10,000 bonus points for spending $5k before the end of May yet?

nope

and I'd completed the spending like by late april / early may, so was hoping to get them at me last statement

fingers crossed they come through soon

No....however will be looking around July 7 to see if they post and if not a phone call will be made.....

Me too, ive already completed the $5k spend the previous month and still no sign of the +10K points to my QFF account.

Just dug up the Terms and Conditions from the original email:

Jetstar Platinum Mastercard said:
1. To be eligible for the bonus points, you must apply and be approved for a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard by 31 March 2012 and opt-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards at activation of your Card. Receive 20,000 points if you make an eligible purchase by 11.59pm AEDT 31 May 2012 and a further 10,000 points if you spend $5,000 by 11.59pm AEDT 31 May 2012 (please note: occasionally transactions authorised towards the end of this period may not be processed until after 31 May 2012 and therefore may not count towards the purchases of $5,000). The 20,000 points will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer Account within 60 days of your first purchase and the 10,000 points will be credited by 30 June 2012, provided that you are not in breach of the Conditions of Use, your Account remains open and you have provided Card Services with a valid Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number. The bonus points will not be included in the annual maximum points earn of 100,000 points.

Re: Up to 30000 bonus points with JQ Mastercard - Fraud warnings

Hi guys

I've been having some issues with my Jetstar card so I thought I would post a bit of a warning. Note my Jetstar credit card details were hacked, the only things I bought were Qantas airfares and groceries from Woolworths... so I'm stumped with how this happened. But I am appauled with the support from jetstar card services, here is my story: (I posted it on product reviews)

My credit card details recently were stolen to make transactions in Dubai. As soon as I saw the transactions on my statement I called Jetstar card services immediately. They said they would send me through a dispute form to sign so they can begin investigations. 2 days later they still have not sent a thing... I called them and it will take 10 business days to send a dispute form. No other credit card company would take this long to send out a dispute form.

They did cancel my credit card and issue a new one (takes one week to send out). But now I can't see any transactions in my online banking so I can't file a police report because I don't have proof any more.

I really wish I never signed up for this card, even for the 30k points. This drama isn't worth it.
Please be careful with your credit cards...

Re: Up to 30000 bonus points with JQ Mastercard - Fraud warnings

I gather nobody has got their bonus 10000 points still? I note an earlier post reported the Ts&Cs said by 30-June. More than 5000 points (+ the 20000 sign-up bonus) have appeared in my QFF account, but so far not the 10000.

No 10k here yet....

no 10k here either yet.

Re: Up to 30000 bonus points with JQ Mastercard - Fraud warnings

the countdown continues - 10K payouts with mass card cancellation.

I'm seriously thinking to get rid of the card. had been thinking to keep it and let my Citibusiness card expire but the website of the JC card is so bad. They need to hire a couple of 12 year olds to teach their web designers some skills

Re: Up to 30000 bonus points with JQ Mastercard - Fraud warnings

I've been using my jetstar as my main MC. I don't mind the website, its simple, easy to get information and doesn't take m 5minutes to login unlike the stupid woolworths one (maybe I'm a bit bitter about the woolworths card because i still don't have my bonus points from there yet!)

Re: Up to 30000 bonus points with JQ Mastercard - Fraud warnings

i dont mind their website per se... yes it's basically but it does what is needed... what i do immensely dislike is transactions not appearing for days and days on end.

now that ****s me to tears and is card cancellation material !!

Re: Up to 30000 bonus points with JQ Mastercard - Fraud warnings

Rang up about my missing 20,000 sign up bonus points - answered immediately, person on other end of line very helpful and friendly (perfect english), quickly verified ID and verified I was elliglible for points.

Very painless! If the points show up soon, I'll be a happy customer.

Re: Up to 30000 bonus points with JQ Mastercard - Fraud warnings

No 10K bonuses here as yet.

To be honest, this card isn't really *that* bad. Admittedly it isn't the most fashionable card to hand over when paying for something.

But there are plenty of positives:
  • 1:1 MasterCard
  • Up to 100k points p.a. (130K with bonueses)
  • FREE (no annual fee in first year)
  • No JQ booking fees**

** For anyone who even contemplates flying JQ, this is a good benefit... A JQ sale / frenzy fare, plus the lowest bundle (and no booking fees) is a reasonable way to earn QF pts and SCs. Also the bundle essentially makes the ticket flexible (to same destination pair).

Bugbears:

  • Can't change PIN
  • Average, yet functional website

Will I renew the card?
Not unless the fee is waived, but I will certainly "load balance" some decent $ spend onto our two cards before I cancel.

FWIW I don't really care about the insurance because I am covered for travel elsewhere, but I do agree that it is a good benefit for some.

I wish it were true :( - I'm still trying to get them to credit the first years fee of $149 that they charged me - many phone calls and messages later and I'm still waiting for it to be fixed

Once I have my points I will be out of there
