I am completely perplexed by the seemingly bizzare approval criteria.

I had a discussion with a colleague offline, who is in a very similar situation to me (our base salaries are exactlly the same, similar bonuses, similar debt/spend profile). I was approved, he was rejected... No explaination as to why.

At the risk of sounding selfish, I am glad it worked for me, but I do feel sorry for those of you who have been given the run around.

Worried about this also i dropped about 20k off my wifes salary (to sub 50k) and loaded up with a few credit cards and mortgage payments.

approved (well payslip requested so i assume will be approved)

The application form specifically asked for a copy of a recent payslip or notice of assessment to be submitted. Best to provide all the information sought rather than waiting to be asked.

Couldn't agree more.......however after one has submitted the information three times it does get a touch tiresome!

Received Internet banking password in the mail today, which says that card is on its way. Must agree with previous posters that that are targeting a particular 'jetstar' demographic and everything outside it is rejected. My income is under 50k and I'm under 25. They did ring to check some details however.

I don't know. I am well outside that set...in age and income.

Well it's getting very close to the end of the month now. I think my Mum hasn't heard back from them re: the card arriving, so looks like we'll miss out on the 20k.

That'd suck; my suspicion is that Mum will call to cancel the card almost immediately, unless they acquiesce and offer the points on first spend.

I haven't heard anything yet. If I end up receiving the card (who knows!) before activating I will be calling to make sure I am valid for the zero annual fee and the bonus points, otherwise I will cut it up and cancel before activation.

I'm fairly sure the criteria for getting the 20k was a need to apply by 31 March, not necessarily be approved by then.

It's not entirely clearly but first spend does not have to be by the end of march. Just looking at the requirement now and it says:

To be eligible for the bonus points, you must apply and be approved by 31 March 2012 and opt-in to Qantas frequent flyer rewards at activation of your card.

Depending on how you read that the opt-in and activation do not have a time limit, only the apply and be approved. Of course, life will be much simpler if it is all done by 31 march.

Why would Jetstar be advertising this special knowing full well it is highly unlikely people won't be approved prior to 31/03/12 as it usually takes 10 working days to process an application?

Ahem...OP posted on 21 Feb so the promotion is ongoing for at least 36 days.

WHat I meant to say, the special is still being promoted on their website 3 days before the cut off date!

great service ... applied 23/03 in the evening, SMS on 25/3 lunchtime seeking payslip - actual card arrived today 28/03 - activated, added FF# + made first purchase this evening.

sensational!

Next letter dated 23 March (yes 5 days ago and 3 days after the 20 March letter) here's your access code, should get the card in the next 7 days. Still no card.

Looks like i've missed the boat on this one. The search for the best $1/1 goes on.
