Found this link buried away in the AAdvantage statement email.

Earn 1000 miles after you sign up to receive AAdvantage promotion emails and remain subscribed for 3 months. Plus, exclusively for the AAdvantage program's elite members . . . earn an additional 1,000 bonus miles when you sign up to receive AAdvantage promotional emails before December 31, 2006.

* One time bonus offer for selected recipients.

Thanks for the link, Steve! I'm torn, should I sign us up now and hopefully get 1000 miles (we weren't targetted) or wait until next year after the plat challenge and hope to score 2000 miles? Is this an ongoing deal?

Do it now Tiki. It's not a targeted promotion.

Only sign up for promotion emails (bottom button). There may be another promo for airmail or net saver fares ;)

Thanks StevePER. Nothing like easy miles!:p

Hi guys,

It never occurred to me previously to investigate AA, as I don't use them (at present), so I hope this isn't a 'silly' question....

After signing up with AA, can I claim 'milage' for a QF domestic flight, plus get the min. 1,000 QFF points AS WELL?

regards,

What if you were already subscribed to that email?

You recommend unsubscribing and then re-subscribing ?

Hmm - I am currently subscribed to everything :/ Maybe I should unsubscribe and when I hit platinum (Mid or Late oct) re-subscribe....

I'm in shock! We got our 1000 miles bonus and we've only been AA members for about a month! I was thinking we wouldn't get them for at least 3 months.

Compare that to UA where I had to ring them, beg for the bonus miles to be posted, no one knew what was going on. Those bonuses are what we needed to push us over the top for an award ticket to RAR in 2007. We finally did get them 6 months after we signed up, 3 months after we had fulfilled the 3 months subscription period.

Hi
Not familiar with the AA program, but if I register with AA program and then sign up for emails to receive the 2000 points, can I then transfer the AA points I've collected across to my QFF account.:?:
thanks

These promotions come up fairly frequently. So after I receive the bonus points and in this case wait 3 months as it says you should i go back to aa.com and unsubscibe and just wait for the next offer.Just think every time this happens gets you that much closer to lifetime platinum.

It used to work like that.

However, recent reports on the FT AAdvantage forum indicate that AA have this fixed. Once you have subscribed to these emails to receive points you can't get further points by unsubsribing and resubscribing.

Unfortunately no transfer of points either way.

Assuming that AA offered 2,000 FF points every time to subscribe to emails then unsubscribe and wait 3 months to resubscribe to emails I should just about reach AA lifetime platinum in 2256.

It would be even longer than that - the promos are not as often as every few months.

Then no need for me to worry about lifetime platinum....

Lets see I thought it was 0.5 cents per point....does this mean that AA are giving away $10 for each member? How many members would have been unsubscribing and resubscribing? That could be big $$$$
