United Award chart devaluation

you can also buy accelerator on an award ticket even on other airlines
eg. thai award. as long as it shows on the UA website ( must get your number in the booking )

That's crazy. Is that only UA operated flights or any flights on the same UA PNR (even in other airlines)?

I haven't checked the website and haven't used the product before, but I though accelerators are a multiplier on the miles you would normally earn (which on award tickets, would be zero, so some number times zero is still zero)? No idea here - happy to be educated....

It a standard 0.023 cents per mile. You can buy about twice the amount of miles you are travelling with award accelerator.

Twice the amount of miles of the UA legs of a USDM redemption, or twice the amount of the whole USDM mileage???

Still not sure that at 2.3 cents per mile it adds up...

Twice of the miles of the whole itinerary. More if you have status with UA. I only bought them coz I was short of few miles for redemption...

I believe it varies booking by booking. Some UA flyers on FT for example make dummy bookings that are refundable, check to see if the purchase option being offered via accelerator is around the 2 cpm mark and then buy miles but cancel the ticket. 2.3 cpm is not that great but may be the only option if you need a few miles like you did..

Ok, well want to make a USDM redemption or two soon, so will check it out if i can figure out how... :)

Read on another site that award redemptions to Asia now significantly less miles reqd than before - is this correct?

Yes it is correct. Check Ausbt (assuming you read about it on another website). New United Airlines, Star Alliance award rates a boon for Aussie travellers - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Using United, theoretically (just realised SQ F isn't available to anyone except Krisflyer) MEL-SIN-MEL SQ A380 should cost just 80,000 miles now.. plus some fees as it is not available online..

Hmmm.................interesting ................any way to transfer pts into UA account?

Probably through AMEX>SPG>United but personally I don't earn enough points with my AMEX to transfer a substantial amount.. I would be looking to purchase them using Mileage accelerator (assuming that option is still available and costs around 2cpm). Off to FT to check the thread! :)

And I am assuming the SQ T-14 availability problem exists with UA also?

Yes. And some reports say it's even worse - you can see the SQ awards but can't book them anyway (call centre can't ticket them). The latter is thought to be a bug, however.

Did a dummy booking to Europe just before. Still showing as 75,000 points one way. Devaluation still might not be in the system.

The J saver awards between Australia and South Asia haven't reduced to 25000 points yet. What's going on here?!

I just checked the UA website and they quoted 25000 for a one way J saver award.

Interesting. From the examples that I've seen it only seems to occur when the long haul is in Y.

I didn't put in any specific destinations. I just went to the UA website and to the Mileage Plus section and did a quote where I selected South Asia and AUstralia/NZ as the origin/destination. It then states that a J saver award between these 2 areas is 25000 for one-way and 50000 for a return ticket.

https://www.united.com/web/en-US/apps/mileageplus/awards/travel/awardTravel.aspx

But when I do a specific search, it keeps quoting 30000 for a one way J saver award!
