Unequal OW access

My point was that BA have a j lounge at Heathrow (two actually in t5) that cater to domestic passengers. Yes they are shared with international travellers but the point is they exist.

The comparison is not like for like simply because Heathrow T5 mixes international and domestic passengers so clearly domestic passengers are getting the same lounge access as international passengers. Indeed fly as a domestic passenger on an international flight from Sydney T1 or Mel international on Qantas and you would get the same.

Besides the Lounge you are talking about at Heathrow isn't called a business is called the Galleries lounge with the 2nd tier being Galleries First. Again so it is all in the name really, not what is being offered.

There are exceptions to lounge access and inclusions across the global network.

And the OW rules clearly state:

Sapphire tier frequent flyers are welcome in Business Class* or frequent flyer lounges. (*does not include Qantas Domestic Business Lounges)

So not only do Qantas state this but the OW rules state this. The oneworld rules clearly state there is no access to QF DOM J lounges for Sapphire.

On the original topic the MAS Platinum Suite was playing nice classical music had comfier chairs and the food and drink selection looked better. Anyway I slummed it in the normal First section :-) which was fine, but as I said mildly disgruntled as denied access when the lounge was clearly not very busy

Were you a 'First' lounge or section, or in a business lounge? I've never even been to KLIA but the MH website mentions a business lounge and a Platinum Suite (accessible to MH plats and F pax), but nothing at a level in-between.

As for QF I'm with dfcatch. It is just a matter of semantics, and QF perhaps not thinking things through properly when naming the domestic business lounges (of which there are, don't forget, only four). Clearly the QPs were 'business' lounges prior to this, and still satisfactorily provide a 'business' lounge to OWS pax.

KLIA has 2 international MH lounges - one in the main building for regional flights and a much better/bigger one in the satellite building. Satellite has Business Lounge, First Lounge and the Platinum Suites as a separate room accessed from the First Lounge (no soup for you :-)
