Morning all

I just booked a sq flight using velocity points but when I jump to the sq site to select my seats, it asks me to update my email and prevents me going any further.

I don't recall this happening in the past? I received the itenary from virgin already so I do have an email attached.

Thanks in advance for your help and thoughts on this.

I had a problem with SQ seat selection, via web and through their app. I ended up calling, utterly useless. Finally got a number in Singapore to call, they sorted it for me.

Be aware, though, for business class seats, Singapore themselves can't see the staggered pairs of seats, so offered us a pair separated by the tables etc. I had to tell them that they're not really together, based on information from seatguru. Got my preference selected.

Given the ridiculous prices we have to pay these days, I'm not a happy customer.

I was trying again through the sq site and a pop up chat box appeared, an agent was able to select seats for me but they weren't able to comment on whether seat selection is disabled going forward. very weird?

You’ll need to have your email address added to your booking.
To do this, initiate a live chat session (via mobile app) with SQ customer service team and request them to add in your email address.

Once your email is successfully added, you should be able to go ahead and choose your seat.

Worked a treat thank you!

Just for reference, seatguru isn't being updated
Yup...it actually hasn't had any updates for more than 3.5 years now. I guess TripAdvisor just keeps it alive to generate clicks.

Just for reference, seatguru isn't being updated and is pretty useless these days. Use Hola - aeroLOPA | Detailed aircraft seat plans for detailed and to-scale seat maps.
Well, I just looked, and I can't determine which plane is used for my flight, unlike the guru. In addition, all business class seats are shown as not staggered, which isn't born out by all the photos I've seen of the A350.

I'm still not sure. I'll find out on the day, I guess.

I just looked at the site and they have different configurations for the a50. Some are staggered, others have all centre seats adjacent. It’s only the regional config with the staggered (alternate) rows of centre seats being separated, or adjacent.

Aerolopa has all the correct seatmaps for SQ A350. If you're looking for the staggered regional config it's this one:

If you genuinely can't access your own booking, just do a dummy booking for your flight up to the seat selection stage...it will be very clear what aircraft is operating...SQ do not chop and change this...you don't get "SQ'ed".

Oh...and "the guru" also doesn't determine which plane will be used for your flight...it just picks one of the versions but warns you at the top of the screen there are others. I asked it for BNE - SIN and it gave me long haul config A350....BNE is always medium haul.

I'd

I'd love for this to be true. Unfortunately, my booking just states A350 900, and there are 3 types. I wasn't able to select a seat through the web or app, anyway. Had to call Singapore.

That's useful, thanks. I wish the website would have this information, but it doesn't.

It is true...I suggested you do a dummy booking to see the seatmap...you still can.

If you can’t work out seats from a dummy booking use mainly miles.

I booked a VA codeshare business class ticket to ICN flying SQ and received the same pop up message when I tried to select seats when using the SQ booking code.

Checking here I found others had experienced the same issue and had found the SQ chatbot of some use. I tried this and couldn't connect to a real person, just an automated message so emailed using the SQ inquiry form. I included all info required including my name, both VA and SQ booking codes, phone number, my KrisFlyer number etc.

Received a reply three days later asking for the exact same information which I immediately gave them. Again. Another three days and this arrived...

Thank you for your email.

This is to acknowledge the information that you provided. In regard to your concern, we learned that your ticket is not issued by Singapore Airlines. For changes in your booking, including updating of your email address, kindly coordinate Virgin Australia for assistance.

Thank you.

Obviously way too difficult for anyone in Singapore to do, much like crediting my Velocity account with points and status credits for SQ branded flights taken a month ago. I've requested this to be rectified twice now using the Velocity site with no success. The return flights were credited reasonably quickly, however I am still waiting for the outward flights to be credited.
