Does anyone know if you book Virgin, Brisbane to Honolulu (via Sydney) if tgis gets points. I dont think its fair that we have to fly via Sydney on a Hawaiian flight but cant get points if we fly direct with Hawaiian from Brisbane
you definately get points from Brisbane as well.

Are you sure? Im flying to Hawaii in May. I looked at Virgin flights but they go via Sydney. So I booked Hawaiian Brisbane to Honolulu Extra Comfort. Apparently my class of fare is O so I dont get points.

I had flights to Hawaii last year, economy Sydney -> Honolulu ->Kauai -> LAX ->Honolulu ->Sydney, last leg being business and all other legs were Economy, now the Sydney -> Honolulu leg was a fare O which was zero Status, when i asked how much it cost to go to the one that earned status it was $350 fare difference at time of booking. The cheap sales tickets on Hawaiian Airlines site would most likely have very little impact on Velocity status.

Apologies. I replied in haste. My flights from Brisbane have always been award flights and its the inter island section where I have paid and earnt. It seems unusual that Sydney would get them and Brisbane wouldn't.

If you booked with Virgin from Brisbane to Honolulu on their website it's via Sydney but on a Hawaiian Airlines plane, and there are no Virgin Brisbane to Honolulu flights direct on their website, you have to go via Sydney, even though Hawaiian fly direct Brisbane to Honolulu, my only option to fly direct without having to go via Sydney was booking direct with Hawaiian Airlines, and not getting points, because it's an O class, which I didn't realise at the time. I rang Hawaiian Airlines and they said if I had clicked on refundable fares on their website when booking, I "possibly" would have been in a different class, but I wasn't aware of that at the time. The status points if I had got them would have taken me to Gold grrrrr!

Just as an aside note. i just booked my first class inter island flight on the hawaiin site. i did not click refundable fares. I checked my receipt and the fare class is A so should earn me the points/status.

Yes well I booked a non refundable fare Honolulu to San Francisco and got points, it was a K class. I got Hawaiian points and Velocity points for that one!

Not sure if you read my thread but I just changed my tickets to L class which does get points and status, it cost $307 for 3 tickets to change the status level. Worth it to us as we too wanted to keep the Gold status also.
