Gatwick: BAA To Confirm Airport Sale, Competition Commission Report To Confirm | Business | Sky News
The Competition Commission has confirmed that BAA must sell its airports at Gatwick, Stansted and either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
All three must be sold in sequence within the next two years, first Gatwick, then Stansted and then whichever of the Scottish airports.
The report follows a two-year investigation into the effective running of the UK's airport network
Not much to do with Australia I know but still interesting.

Not the best timming in the world i guess.
Then again i think they made enough profit over the last few years to cover the potential losses.

BAA: so who wants to buy rundown airports? - Times Online
This is just part of it.
BAA's airport monopoly is finally being broken and the Competition Commission hopes that new owners will work harder to create airports that are attractive destinations for airlines and their passengers.
But there is a problem: who in their right mind would want to buy these airports?
